    • Falls short of qualifying for win
Gray allowed one run on seven hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against Seattle on Wednesday.

Advice: Gray pitched well as a starter four days after making a surprise 1.2-inning relief appearance against Atlanta, but he was pulled with two runners on base and two outs in the fifth after having thrown 92 pitches. Texas was up 2-1 at the time, so the ill-timed hook cost him a chance at earning his first win of 2024. Nonetheless, this was another positive outing for the right-hander, who has now given up one or fewer earned runs in each of his past five trips to the mound (including the relief outing). • Wyatt Langford reaches four times against Mariners
Wyatt Langford went 3-for-3 with a run scored and a walk against the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Langford has his best day at the plate so far, reaching in all four plate appearances. He hit a hard double off the center field wall in the second, but stumbled going around second and was caught on the bases. He drew a walk in the fourth and added two more base hits, scoring on a single by Jonah Heim in the sixth. The 22-year-old outfielder is now slashing .261/.340/.318 with 11 runs scored across 100 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:19 pm
    • Jon Gray whiffs seven in no-decision vs. Mariners
Jon Gray struck out seven batters with one run allowed over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Mariners.

Advice: Gray labored through a long first inning. A leadoff triple and a groundout brought a run in for the Mariners before he stranded two on the bases with a strikeout. He settled down to toss three scoreless frames before leaving with two runners on and two outs in the fifth, giving him a no-decision. The 32-year-old right-hander induced ten whiffs, striking out seven. Gray will take a 2.92 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and a 32/11 K/BB ratio across 24 2/3 innings into a start against the Nationals in Texas on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:18 pm

    • First loss of season
Rodriguez (0-1) took the loss Wednesday against Kansas City, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Rodriguez allowed more than one run for the first time in three starts this season and set a season low in strikeouts after tallying six and seven K's in his first two starts, respectively. While Rodriguez is expected to be pushed into a bullpen role upon the return of Alek Manoah (shoulder), he's been a serviceable fill-in rotation piece, owning a 3.86 ERA and a 15:5 K:BB over 11.2 innings. • Yariel Rodríguez gives up three runs in loss
Yariel Rodríguez allowed three runs with two strikeouts over four innings in a loss against the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Rodriguez struggled to find the zone in the first inning, walking two batters before Salvador Perez knocked in a run with a base hit. Two more hits in the second brought another run in to score for the Royals. He retired the next seven batters until the fifth, when three straight singles brought a run in and left two runners on base as Rodríguez’s day was done. The 27-year-old right-hander’s velocity was down a bit from his first two starts, and he generated only four swings-and-misses. He’ll take a 3.86 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and a 15/5 K/BB ratio across 11 2/3 innings into a start against these same Royals in Toronto on Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:33 pm
    • Nolan Jones (back) remains out of Rockies lineup
Nolan Jones (back) remains out of the Rockies’ starting lineup for Wednesday’s battle against the Padres.

Advice: The 25-year-old outfielder was pulled from Tuesday’s contest due to stiffness in his back. He’s considered day-to-day. Jake Cave will start in his place in left field and bat eighth against Padres’ knuckleballer Matt Waldron. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:27 pm

    • Held out with back injury
Jones (back) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Padres.

Advice: Jones was removed from Tuesday's 7-4 win with back stiffness. The injury seems to be a day-to-day concern, but with a day game on tap for Thursday's series finale ahead of an off day Friday, Jones might not be back in action until Saturday against the Astros. Jake Cave will make a start in left field Wednesday in Jones' stead. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:03 pm

    • Shut down after setback with elbow
Williams felt some discomfort in his right elbow in his most recent simulated game Saturday at the Guardians' spring facility in Arizona and will receive an injection and be shut down for seven days, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The soreness was similar to what he first felt during spring training in a weighted-ball workout. The Guardians are hopeful that Williams can begin a throwing program in a week and ramp back up again, but it's certainly no guarantee that his recovery process will go that smoothly. Even in a best-case scenario, Williams looks set to remain on the 15-day injured list well into May. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:38 pm

    • Secures ninth save
Holmes struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his ninth save of the season in a 4-3 win over the A's.

Advice: The right-hander needed only nine pitches (seven strikes) to carve up the bottom of the Oakland order. Holmes has been brilliant to begin the season, converting nine of 10 save chances with a 0.00 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 10:1 K:BB through 12 innings, and he sits one ahead of the Padres' Robert Suarez for the MLB saves lead.
