    • Fans two in defeat
Luzardo (3-6) took the loss Sunday against Washington, allowing two earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two in five innings pitched.

Advice: The two runs charged to Luzardo were both solo home runs -- a first-inning shot by Lane Thomas followed by a fifth-inning blast courtesy of Jacob Young. While he only yielded two earned runs, Luzardo allowed baserunners in all five innings and mustered just two strikeouts. The hard-throwing southpaw has seen a steep drop-off in his strikeout rate compared to last year, plummeting from 10.48 K/9 to 7.83 K/9 this season. Overall, Luzardo has compiled a disappointing 5.00 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP and a 58:22 K:BB across 66.2 innings. He will look to bounce back in his next start, currently scheduled for next weekend versus Seattle. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago
    • Hurls seven no-hit innings
Blanco (7-2) got the win Sunday vs the Tigers. He did not allow a run or a hit in seven innings, while walking three and striking out eight.

Advice: Blanco flirted with his second no-hitter of the season but his elevated pitch count forced him out of the game after seven frames, and the bullpen would give up a hit the next inning. The 30-year-old righty mowed through the Tigers lineup registering eight strikeouts in another impressive showing. Blanco lowered his ERA to 2.43 as he became the eighth pitcher since 1900 to have multiple games of seven innings and zero hits allowed in single season. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

    • Garcia leaves with trainer Sunday
Yimi Garcia left with an apparent injury against the Guardians on Sunday.

Advice: We’ll have more when there’s an update on Garcia’s status. He left the mound with trainers with two men on and two outs in the ninth inning. Nate Pearson got the final out to earn his second save of the year. It’s unclear what the timetable could be for Garcia, who seemed to have a grip on the closer’s role in Toronto with Jordan Romano (elbow) out. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago
    • Vlad Jr. has three-hit game in win Sunday
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored against the Guardians on Sunday.

Advice: Guerrero was 1-for-17 (.059) with one walk in his last five games. While the three hits were good to see, his power is still a concern. Guerrero’s .122 ISO is a career-low and with seven home runs so far he’s going to have to pick up the pace to even repeat the 26 home runs he hit last season.

    • Varsho hits grand slam for 11th home run Sunday
Daulton Varsho went 2-for-4 with a grand slam against the Guardians on Sunday.

Advice: The home run was Varsho’s 11th of the season. He could’ve had an even bigger game as he came up with the bases loaded again in the eighth inning, but he struck out. While he’s only hitting .220, he’s produced in the power categories with 11 home runs and 35 RBI. His .238 ISO is even higher than his .207 iSO in 2022 when he hit 27 home runs with the Diamondbacks.

    • Luzardo allows two runs in loss Sunday
Jesus Luzardo allowed two runs in five innings and took the loss against the Nationals on Sunday

Advice: Luzardo gave up five hits, walked three and struck out two. He had allowed just two home runs in his previous seven starts combined, but two of the five hits he gave up on Sunday were home runs. Luzardo has now allowed nine home runs on the season (1.22 HR/9). He has a 5.00 ERA on the season, but his xFIP is significantly lower at 4.09. Luzardo’s been a little unlucky with a 66 percent left on base percentage, though his 21 percent strikeout percentage is down from 28 percent last year. The 26-year-old left-hander is set to face the Mariners at home next week.

    • Getting Sunday off
Fry is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Fry will rest after he had started each of the past seven games at catcher or in the corner outfield while going 6-for-26 at the dish. His absence Sunday opens up a spot in the lineup at designated hitter for Kyle Manzardo, who had been on the bench for each of the past three contests. Rotowire.com Today, 10:45 am

    • Ronel Blanco starting Sunday against Tigers
Ronel Blanco will start Sunday’s game against the Tigers.

Advice: There was talk that Blanco would get some extra rest before making his next outing, but the right-hander will work on regular rest for the finale against Detroit. Assuming the rotation stays the same after this start, his next outing would come against the Orioles. Rotoworld Today, 8:31 am

    • Drawing start Sunday
Blanco will start Sunday's game against the Tigers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Heading into the weekend, Blanco wasn't expected to make a start against the Tigers, but he ended up getting pushed up in the pitching schedule after Justin Verlander had his turn in the rotation skipped due to a neck injury. As a result of the change in the pitching schedule, Blanco no longer lines up for two starts during the upcoming week. After Sunday's outing, the right-hander is on track to make his next start next weekend versus the Orioles in Houston. Rotowire.com Today, 8:12 am
