    • Mountcastle has four-hit game Thursday
      Ryan Mountcastle went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored against the White Sox on Thursday.



      Advice: Mountcastle scored on Jorge Mateo’s three-run home run in the fourth inning and on an Adley Rutschman home run in the sixth inning. The four hits marked a nice bounce back game for Mountcastle, who had been slumping. The Orioles have a deep group of hitters to choose from, but he should stay in the lineup as long as he continues to hit.

      Wesneski (2-3) allowed a run on one hit across 1.2 innings of relief to take the loss Thursday against Atlanta. He had no walks and struck out two.

      Advice: Chicago starter Ben Brown tossed four scoreless innings but left with the game tied 0-0. Wesneski took over and promptly allowed a solo home run to Jarred Kelenic, which was enough to get saddled with the loss in what ended up as a 3-0 Atlanta victory. The righty started the season by earning wins in each of his first two appearances, but he's 0-3 across eight outings since then, though he does have a solid 2.55 ERA during this stretch.     • Christian Walker homers in win over Dodgers
      Christian Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, a double, and two runs scored on Wednesday against the Dodgers.

      Advice: Walker led off the sixth inning with a solo homer off Elieser Hernández to extend the Diamondbacks’ lead. He later doubled in the eighth and scored on a passed ball. The 33-year-old first baseman is pacing right in line with his 2023 season, hitting .257/.358/.458 with 10 homers and 32 RBI across 215 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 10:02 pm
       
    • Earns win in second complete game
      Fried (4-2) earned the win over the Cubs on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits in a complete game. He struck out nine.

      Advice: Fried dominated the Cubs' lineup in his second complete game of the season, retiring the first 15 batters he faced before surrendering a leadoff double to Ian Happ to open the bottom of the sixth. The lefty produced 18 whiffs in the contest and finished with a season-high nine strikeouts, while also not issuing any walks for first time in his last five starts.     • Earns fifth win
      Bello (5-2) allowed three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out six over six innings to earn the win over the Rays on Wednesday.

      Advice: Bello completed six innings for the second time in eight outings this season, and he earned his second quality start in the process. The Rays scored three times in the second inning, but the Red Sox offense rallied for eight runs over the fifth and sixth frames to give Bello plenty of support. The right-hander is now at a 4.04 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 37:13 K:BB through 42.1 innings. Walks typically haven't been an outsized issue for Bello, so there's not much reason for concern that he was a little wild Wednesday.     • Max Fried tosses complete game in win over Cubs
      Max Fried tossed a complete game, allowing two runs -- one earned -- with nine strikeouts in a win over the Cubs on Wednesday.

      Advice: Fried was outstanding on Wednesday against the Cubs. He had a perfect game going through five innings until Ian Happ led off the sixth with a double. A wild pitch put Happ on third before a groundout brought him in to score. Fried returned for a clean seventh inning before giving up one more unearned run on two hits and an error in the eighth. Fried finished out the complete game with a strikeout in the ninth. The 30-year-old left-hander struck out nine batters overall on 18 whiffs. He’ll take a 3.38 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and a 48/20 K/BB ratio across 58 2/3 innings into a start against the Nationals in Atlanta on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:07 pm

      Brayan Bello allowed three earned runs and four hits in a win over the Rays on Wednesday. He walked four and struck out six.

      Advice: Bello keeps putting up these good but not great starts. The win and QS are nice, but there’s this next level Bello is still trying to reach. If he gets there, it will be on the heels of his improving slider. He showed a willingness to throw it back-foot to some of the Rays’ left-handed batters, but they only chased one out of the four he threw there.       Springer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

      Advice: After sitting out three times in four-game stretch from May 10 through 13 while he recovered from an illness, Springer started in each of Toronto's last six games while going 3-for-20 with four walks and two doubles. Despite his lackluster production over the past week, Springer isn't believed to be dealing with any physical issues, so his absence from the lineup Wednesday is most likely a maintenance day.
