    • George Springer homers in win
George Springer went 1-for-4 with three RBI in a win over the Astros on Tuesday.

Advice: It’s been a good stretch for Springer of late, hitting .334 over his last 11 games with four home runs, 13 RBI, and one steal. He’s been making consistent contact all season but failing to lift the ball, which has limited his upside, but perhaps this recent stretch is the beginning of a bit of a resurgence. He remains in the lower third of the lineup, which will impact his run totals and he may struggle to top last year’s batting average and home run totals, but he should be a solid contributor in deeper fantasy formats, provided the Blue Jays don’t trade away a lot of their lineup at the deadline. • Reynaldo López goes just 4 2/3 innings vs. Giants
Reynaldo López allowed two runs over 4 1/3 innings while striking out six in Tuesday’s loss to the Giants.

Advice: López was pulled after 101 pitches, as the veteran righty allowed base runners on the night, with four coming via the walk. López gave up a solo homer to Jorge Soler in the fifth inning and later saw LaMonte Wade Jr. take him deep to tie the game at 2-2 before being pulled after retiring the next batter. López has allowed two earned runs or less in his last six outings but has walked four batters in back-to-back games. He carries a 1.83 ERA into his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Phillies. Rotoworld Today, 7:20 pm

    • Returning to mound Thursday
Burnes will start Thursday's series finale against the Mariners on the road, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Advice: Burnes was activated from the paternity list Monday after missing three games while with his expanding family, welcoming a pair of twins with his wife. With Dean Kremer (triceps) set to return from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Burnes will make his return to the mound Thursday. The right-hander produced a 2.12 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 28 strikeouts over 34 innings in five starts in June. Rotowire.com Today, 4:56 pm
    • J.D. Martinez scratched Tuesday with ankle soreness
J.D. Martinez was scratched from Tuesday’s lineup due to left ankle soreness.

Advice: It sounds like a precautionary move here by the Mets as they don’t want to take any chances with Brandon Nimmo (head) already sitting out due to injury. The 36-year-old veteran slugger will presumably be available to pinch-hit, if needed, during Tuesday’s contest against the Nationals. Rotoworld Today, 3:09 pm

    • Scratched with ankle soreness
Martinez was scratched from the Mets' lineup ahead of Tuesday's game versus Washington due to left ankle soreness, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The severity of Martinez's injury isn't immediately apparent, but it's enough of a nuisance to keep him from playing Tuesday. Luis Torrens will step into the lineup as New York's designated hitter and bat sixth while Martinez rests. Rotowire.com Today, 3:00 pm

    • Still out Tuesday
Mountcastle (illness) isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: An illness kept Mountcastle out of Sunday's game versus Texas, and he'll remain sidelined Tuesday as he continues to feel under the weather. Ryan O'Hearn will get the nod at first base while Heston Kjerstad serves as the DH. Rotowire.com Today, 2:29 pm

    • Ryan Mountcastle remains out Tuesday due to illness
Ryan Mountcastle (illness) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Mariners.

Advice: Mountcastle remains out of the lineup for the third straight contest due to an ongoing illness. The 27-year-old first baseman’s absence has led to some additional at-bats for Ryan O’Hearn and top prospect Heston Kjerstad in the meantime. Rotoworld Today, 2:15 pm

    • Swipes ninth bag
Springer went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Astros.

Advice: The veteran outfielder extended his hitting streak to six games while pilfering his ninth bag of the year in nine attempts. Springer is batting .550 (11-for-20) with two doubles, three homers, four runs and 10 RBI during his heater, but he still has a long way to go climb out of his early-season hole -- his .641 OPS is well below his .824 career mark. • Slugs go-ahead homer in extras
Martinez went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and two walks in Monday's 9-7 win against the Nationals.

Advice: The New York designated hitter blasted a titanic 420-foot homer off Hunter Harvey in the 10th inning to break the tie. The round tripper was a welcome sight for Martinez, as he entered this contest in a bit of a cold spell, slashing .211/.333/.342 across 47 plate appearances over his previous 10 games with just one homer. The veteran power hitter now sports a .278 average with 10 home runs, 37 RBI and 22 runs scored in 209 at-bats overall. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:07 pm
