    • Donald Lutz logged his first career multi-hit game in Saturday's 10-0 demolition of the Phillies.
Advice: Lutz went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. He's batting .290 with a .419 slugging percentage through 31 at-bats, but Lutz has yet to take a walk. Lutz had 20-plus home runs in two straight minor league seasons and has displayed NL-only upside when given an opportunity, knocking in six runs, jacking a home run and stealing a pair of bases. He'll likely have to wait until 2014, at least, to become fantasy relevant.

    • Dexter Fowler had a monster night in Saturday's 10-2 romp over the Giants, going 3-for-5 with a double, a steal, two RBI and three runs scored.
Advice: Fowler began May in a 5-of-39 funk, failing to steal a base or hit a home run. In his last three games, he's 6-for-15 with two steals, an extra-base hit and five runs. Right hip flexor soreness hobbled Fowler earlier this month. If Saturday's speed is any indication, he's feeling a lot better.

    • Brandon Moss went 1-for-3 with a walk and a triple in Saturday's 2-1 victory over the Royals.
Advice: He also collected an RBI. Moss has just one multi-hit game since April 29. After a nice start to the year, Moss has lost his swing in May.

    • Brandon Moss went 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run in Monday's 5-1 victory over the Rangers.
Advice: And boy did he need it. Moss went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Sunday's loss to the Mariners, continuing a cold month. He entered the game with a .156 average and one homer in May. Moss had a nice start to the season, but has seen his slash line fall to .260/.355/.447 over 141 plate appearances.

    • Julio Borbon has stolen three bases since he joined the Cubs last month.
Advice: Borbon hasn't been playing enough to warrant an update over the past month (he's logged more than two at-bats in a game just twice since the Cubs claimed him off waivers from the Rangers on April 19). If he can secure some playing time over the summer, Borbon will be useful in NL-only formats in the batting average and steals departments. Chicago has displayed no willingness to exercise their atrophying 27-year-old outfielder, however.

    • Matt Carpenter has hit safely in all but two May games.
Advice: The young infielder is third in the NL with 33 runs scored. Carpenter's slash line of .263/.333/.442 in April was solid, but he's really turned up the heat in May, batting .375/.470/.482. If Carpenter can convert some of his doubles (14) into home runs (three), he'll eradicate a fantasy weakness to this point. Despite his hot stick, Carpenter has driven in only 14 runs. He's not a threat to run, either.

    • Since May 2, Ryan Raburn is batting an anemic .172/.273/.241 over 33 plate appearances.
Advice: Raburn lived a charmed life in April, slashing .320/.370/.620 in the season's opening month. The wheels have come off since he went 4-for-5 against the Phillies on May 1. Since that time, he's seen his OPS deflate from 1.061 to .871 with no signs of slowing. Raburn began losing playing time when Michael Bourne returned, but there was hope he'd grab some playing time following the demotion of Lonnie Chisenhall. ESPN Fantasy reports that Raburn has been dropped from 35.6% of baseball leagues over the past week. He's now owned in just 32.1%, a number that's still too high.

    • Raul Ibanez's recent power surge continued Saturday, as he launched a solo homer in a loss to the Indians.
Advice: Ibanez had two home runs through his first 19 games this season, but he now has six over his last seven. The 40-year-old shouldn't be owned in shallow mixed leagues, but he might be worth a try in deeper formats while he's hot.
      (Rotoworld.com)
  • Fri, May 17
    • Raul Ibanez remained red hot in Friday's extra-inning loss to the Indians, going 3-for-5 with a two-run homer.
Advice: The sixth inning blast off Rich Hill was his seventh of the season, and knotted the game at 3-3. He's now homered five times and driven in 13 runs in his last six games. Despite the recent success however, he's still hitting .235/.278/.541 on the season and remains a spot play at best in most fantasy leagues.
      (Rotoworld.com)
  • Wed, May 15
    • Raul Ibanez hit two home runs and tallied six RBI as the Mariners beat the Yankees 12-2 on Wednesday.
Advice: Ibanez broke the game open with a grand slam in the first inning and added a two-run homer in the fifth. The veteran outfielder now has four homers in four games after hitting just two in his first 19 starts. His platoon situation in Seattle and his decreased production doesn't make him an option outside of AL-only leagues, though.
      (Rotoworld.com)
  • Tue, May 14
    • Raul Ibanez singled and belted a two-run homer off of CC Sabathia in Tuesday's loss to the Yankees.
Advice: Zero of Ibanez's 19 home runs last season came off of left-handed pitching, so, naturally, he took one of the best lefties in the game deep in this one. Though he's hitting just .211 for the season, Ibanez has a modest five-game hitting streak going and has homered in two of his last three starts.

    • Curtis Granderson is starting in right field Saturday against the Blue Jays.
Advice: It's Granderson's first career start in right field. With Ichiro Suzuki struggling, the Yankees are looking for ways to get Granderson, Vernon Wells and Travis Hafner in the lineup against right-handed pitching. Granderson has been playing exclusively in left field since his return from the disabled list, so it's a sign that Ichiro's playing time could be reduced going forward.

    • Yankees activated OF Curtis Granderson from the 15-day disabled list.
Advice: Granderson will bat cleanup and start in left field in his return Tuesday night. This will be his first game action in left field since 2007, when he was a member of the Tigers. Brett Gardner will stick in center field. Granderson batted .400 (8-for-20) with one home run and three RBI in five rehab games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and didn't have any issues with his once-fractured forearm. Make sure to activate him in fantasy leagues.

    • Mark Trumbo slugged his 10th home run of the season Saturday in the Angels' 12-9 win over the White Sox.
Advice: Trumbo's solo shot in the bottom of the fourth inning completely threw off White Sox starter Hector Santiago, who had been on a roll. Trumbo then added a run-scoring double in the fifth against White Sox reliever Nate Jones. Trumbo is currently on pace for 38 homers and 109 RBI, and he's talented enough to come at least somewhat close to those totals.

    • Chris Young (quad) had some cramping in his leg after Thursday's rehab game, but hopes to be activated from the disabled list on Saturday.
Advice: Young was originally expected to be activated following Thursday's rehab game, but it appears that the leg cramping set him back a day. It's not expected to be a major setback, so look for him to return to the A's lineup at some point over the weekend.

Advice: Ankiel is 6-for-20 (.300) with two homers, four RBI and six strikeouts since joining the Mets earlier this week. The 33-year-old is not going to hit for a high batting average, but he has enough pop to be useful in NL-only leagues as long as he gets regular at-bats in center field.

    • Gerardo Parra hit a leadoff (but game-winning) home run against the Marlins on Saturday night.
Advice: Parra took Tom Koehler deep on the first pitch of the game, and it turned out to be all the scoring either team would do. The homer was Parra's only hit of the night, and he's now batting .327/.394/.506 on the year. The outfielder has often been the odd-man out in the Diamondbacks outfield -- Arizona expected Jason Kubel and Adam Eaton to be starting at this point -- but it's hard to see how the club will bench him when he's performing like this.

    • Adam Dunn left Saturday's game against the Angels due to back spasms.
Advice: Jeff Keppinger hit for the first baseman in the fifth inning. Spasms are generally a day-to-day thing, so we'll have to see how Dunn is feeling Sunday before knowing if he'll have to miss some games. It's unfortunate timing, too, as Dunn has been heating up at the plate.

Advice: Dunn is terribly sad to see the series against the Twins come to an end. He hit three homers in the three games, and he could have had a fourth if Aaron Hicks hadn't gone over the fence to rob him on Monday. Hopefully for the White Sox, he'll stay hot in a four-game series in Anaheim this weekend.
