  • Michael Kopech allows unearned run in loss to MIL
    Michael Kopech allowed an unearned run while striking out two and picking up a loss Saturday to the Brewers.

    Advice: The run doesn’t get charged to Kopech because it was the “zombie runner” that was placed on second base to begin the bottom of the 10th. He still gets the loss with Willy Adames singling in William Contreras to give the Brewers a win and the White Sox their 10th straight loss. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:19 pm
     
  • Michael Lorenzen blanks Marlins over 6 1/3 in win
    Michael Lorenzen didn’t give up a run while firing 6 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts to help the Rangers to a 7-0 rout of the Marlins on Saturday.

    Advice: Lorenzen exited his last start with a trainer, but the injury didn’t appear to affect him whatsoever. The right-hander scattered five hits and issued just two walks in an impressive outing even when considering the lackluster opponent. Lorenzen has been able to work at least six innings in seven of his eight starts, and he’s posted a very strong 2.96 ERA in the process. That’ll play. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:06 pm
     
  • Josh Hader fires scoreless inning for save vs. Twins
    Josh Hader worked a scoreless inning to get a save against the Twins on Saturday.

    Advice: Hader did allow a walk and didn’t strike anyone out, but he was able to escape without a run while picking up his eighth save of the season. The 30-year-old should continue to be one of the finest closing options for the remainder of 2024. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:01 pm
     
  • Sean Manaea surrenders six runs in loss
    Sean Manaea surrendered six runs -- five earned -- with ten strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

    Advice: After two scoreless frames, Manaea loaded the bases with a base hit and two walks in the third. Christian Walker would clear them all with a grand slam to put the Diamondbacks ahead. A double and a base hit in the sixth would drive in a run and knock Manaea from the game with two outs at 105 pitches. He struck out a season-high ten batters. The 32-year-old left-hander will take a 3.63 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a 57/24 K/BB ratio across 57 innings into a start against the Phillies in New York next Saturday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:26 pm
     
  • Emmanuel Clase locks down 18th save
    Emmanuel Clase tossed a perfect ninth inning to earn the save against the Nationals on Saturday.

    Advice: Clase was summoned in the ninth inning to close it out with a one-run lead over the Nationals. He slammed the door quickly, needing only eight pitches to secure the win and lock down his 18th save of the season. The 26-year-old right-hander has allowed just one run with a 29/2 K/BB ratio across 29 1/3 innings. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:47 pm
     
  • Ben Lively earns fifth win Saturday vs. Nats
    Ben Lively allowed two runs with four strikeouts across 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Nationals on Saturday.

    Advice: Lively worked through three scoreless innings before the Nationals brought two runs in to score in the fourth. After walking a batter with one out, Tyler Freeman misplayed a routine fly ball to put runners on second and third with one out instead of two outs and a runner on first. A groundout and a base hit would bring the two runs in to score. Lively would work a clean fifth and gave up a base hit with two outs in the sixth. That would end his day at 86 pitches -- 62 for strikes. He struck out four. The 32-year-old right-hander will take a 2.84 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 47/15 K/BB ratio across 50 2/3 innings into a start against the Marlins in Miami on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:46 pm

  • Cooper Criswell holds Detroit to one run in win
    Cooper Criswell allowed one run with five strikeouts over five innings in a win over the Tigers on Saturday.

    Advice: A double and a base hit in the first inning put the Tigers on the board with one run. Criswell would settle in to give the Red Sox four more scoreless frames, scattering two more hits and a walk while striking out five batters. The 27-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.92 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 41/10 K/BB ratio across 43 2/3 innings. He’s in line for a start against the White Sox on Friday.   • Trevor Megill (elbow) returns to action Saturday
    Trevor Megill (elbow) returned to action on Saturday and looked no worse for the wear, striking out all three batters that he faced in a scoreless inning against the White Sox.

    Advice: It wasn’t a save chance, as it was the seventh inning of a game where the Brewers trailed 3-1, but it was nice to see Megill look as dominant as ever after taking a scary line drive off of his arm during Monday’s game. He needed just 14 pitches (nine strikes) to dispatch of Zach Remillard, Tommy Pham and Korey Lee in order. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:15 pm
     
  • Luis Ortiz snags first career save on Saturday
    Luis Ortiz picked up the first save of his big league career on Saturday, working three scoreless innings to close out the Blue Jays.

    Advice: Ortiz came on in the seventh with the Pirates holding a comfortable 6-1 lead, and all he had to do was steer the ship home. He allowed just one hit over his three scoreless frames while striking out three batters along the way. He’s not going to suddenly challenge David Bednar for save chances, but it’s probably a nice confidence boost for him to be able to close one out. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:06 pm
