• Chris Flexen pulled in fifth against Orioles
Chris Flexen yielded four runs in 4 2/3 innings Friday in a no-decision versus the Orioles.

Advice: The White Sox are holding out hope that Flexen might bring back a minor prospect at the trade deadline, but he’s not doing them much good in the meantime. This leaves him with a 5.69 ERA in nine starts and two relief appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:16 pm

  • Set to throw bullpens
Marquez (elbow) will return to Denver to throw bullpen sessions during the Rockies' weekend series against the Phillies, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Manager Bud Black said the team wanted to see Marquez's progress after he had been working at the team's spring training facility for the last few weeks. If things go well, Marquez could embark on a lengthy rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:58 pm

  • Falls to Detroit
Manoah (1-2) took the loss Friday against the Tigers, allowing six runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: It was a tough outing for Manoah, who hadn't allowed an earned run over 14 innings in his previous two starts. Still, the 26-year-old right-hander has gotten off to a solid start in 2024, pitching to a 3.97 ERA with a 1.06 WHIP and 23:8 K:BB through 22.2 innings after struggling to a 5.87 ERA in 19 starts last year. Manoah will look to get back on track in his next outing, currently lined up for next week on the road versus the White Sox. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:49 pm
  • Bryse Wilson gets win against Red Sox as bulk guy
Bryse Wilson allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings in a bulk role Friday and picked up a win against the Red Sox.

Advice: Wilson took over with two outs in the first after Jared Koenig retired two of four batters, got out of the jam and then stayed in through the end of the sixth. Perhaps this was an outing, in a 7-2 game, in which he would have gotten a win as a starter, but the bulk role really helps there. Wilson still hasn’t won any of his six starts, including one in which he was pulled with a lead one out shy of finishing the fifth. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:47 pm

  • Kutter Crawford surrenders six runs in defeat
Kutter Crawford lasted only 4 1/3 innings and gave up six runs Friday in a loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Crawford allowed only five hard-hit balls on the night, but he couldn’t stop the bleeding in either the third or the fifth, giving up three runs each inning. After opening up with a 0.66 ERA in his first five starts, Crawford has come in at 4.64 in his last six outings. He’ll pitch in Baltimore next time out, making him a mediocre play in mixed leagues. • Skid continues Friday
Stripling (1-9) allowed six runs on eight hits and struck out three without walking a batter over 3.2 innings to take the loss Friday versus the Astros.

Advice: Stripling was perfect the first time through the order, but the Astros responded with six runs in the fourth inning, capped off by a three-run Jake Meyers homer run. This was Stripling's fourth straight loss, and he's allowed 24 runs (17 earned) over 15.1 innings in that span. The veteran right-hander has a 5.82 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB over 55.2 innings across 11 starts this season. Stripling's poor performance hasn't cost him a rotation spot yet, but Kyle Muller tossed four scoreless innings in relief Friday and has past experience as a starter if the Athletics opt to mix things up. Stripling is tentatively projected to make his next appearance on the road versus the Rays. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:15 pm

  • Bailey Ober earns fifth victory for Twins
Bailey Ober threw five innings of two-run ball for the win as the Twins edged the Rangers 3-2 on Friday.

Advice: Marcus Semien singled and Corey Seager homered to start the top of the first, but those proved to be the only runs of the night for Texas. Ober wasn’t as efficient as usual in walking three and throwing 99 pitches in five innings tonight, but he got the job done. He’s 5-2 with a 4.33 ERA. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:06 pm

  • José Ureña drops to 1-4 after allowing three runs
José Ureña fell to 1-4 after allowing three runs and nine hits in five innings Friday against the Twins.

Advice: Ureña has a nice 3.53 ERA in four starts and nine relief appearances, but the Rangers offense just hasn’t been clicking for him or really anyone else. He’ll likely remain in the rotation and face the Marlins next time out. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:06 pm

  • Strikes out nine in win
Verlander (3-2) allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits and struck out nine without walking a batter, earning the win Friday over the Athletics.

Advice: Verlander has alternated quality starts with shorter outings over his seven starts this season, and this was one of his good ones. The nine strikeouts were a season high, and it was just the second time he hasn't walked a batter this year. The 41-year-old is at a 3.60 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB through 40 innings. Verlander is projected to make his next start at Seattle. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:57 pm
