• Powers Cleveland to win
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a grand slam, a stolen base and an additional run scored in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Ramirez extended the Guardians' lead to 5-0 in the second inning, blasting a two-out grand slam on the 10th pitch of the at-bat from Chase Anderson. While it'd been a slow start to the year by Ramirez's standards, he now has six extra-base hits, including three home runs, and three stolen bases in his last 10 contests. The veteran third-baseman is now slashing .260/.271/.471 with five home runs, 23 RBI and 18 runs scored across 107 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com 1 minute ago

  • Next start will be Monday
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that Paxton's next start will be at Arizona on Monday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Paxton would be on regular rest Sunday after he started Tuesday's game against the Nationals, but the Dodgers will go with a bullpen game Sunday in Toronto and give Paxton an extra day of rest. The southpaw has managed a 2.61 ERA but a 1.55 WHIP and 11:17 K:BB through 20.2 innings this season. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago
  • Megill snags save for the Brewers
Trevor Megill fired a scoreless ninth inning to close the door on the Brewers’ 7-5 win over the Pirates.

Advice: It was Megill’s first save of the season and his first career save. However, this shouldn’t be treated as a one-off. Since coming off the concussion-IL, Megill has regularly faced the heart of the opponent’s order and was asked to secure a two-inning save in his first appearance off the IL but ran out of gas at the end. Coming into today, Megill also had the highest Average Leverage Index at the start of an inning, which means he’s been used in the highest leverage innings of any reliever in Milwaukee’s bullpen. That will lead to saves for Megill when the opponent has the heart of their order coming up, but he will also be used in earlier innings to get out the best hitters, which means Joel Payamps will still record some saves as well. Both should be on rosters. Rotoworld 6 minutes ago
  • Nats activate, option Stone Garrett to Triple-A
Nationals activated OF Stone Garrett from the 10-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: Garrett was headed to Triple-A Rochester on a rehab assignment anyway, so this is merely a procedural move. The 28-year-old outfielder is going to need an extended stint in the minors to get back into form after undergoing surgery last August to repair a fractured fibula in his left leg. He figures to be an option for the Nationals outfield mix in a couple weeks once he’s had time to properly ramp up. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago

  • Gives up five in loss
Martinez (0-1) took the loss against the Phillies on Thursday, allowing five runs on 11 hits over six innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Four of the runs against Martinez came in the third inning, including two on a Bryce Harper home run. After starting the season in the Reds' rotation, Martinez found more success when shifted back to the bullpen, allowing one run on five hits over seven innings in a pair of long-relief appearances. Still, he'll likely make one more start, currently scheduled for Tuesday in San Diego against his former team, with Frankie Montas (forearm) on the IL. The 33-year-old Martinez now sports a 5.48 ERA with a 1.39 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB across 23 innings this year. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Hoskins has three hits, two RBI in win
Rhys Hoskins went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in a win over the Pirates on Thursday.

Advice: Hoskins is hitting just .226/.320/.452 on the year but does have five home runs and 17 RBI in 23 games. He’s been making solid contact with a barrel rate of just under 13 percent and has just 20 strikeouts in his 23 games, so at some point, that level of quality contact will lead to a hot streak. Maybe this is the start of one? Rotoworld 10 minutes ago

  • Bart continues to swing hot bat with Pirates
Joey Bart went 1-for-4 with a walk and a three-run homer in a loss to the Brewers on Thursday.

Advice: Bart has been on fire since joining the Pirates, going 7-for-23 with three home runs, eight RBI, and four runs scored in seven games. That comes with an OPS over 1.200. With Henry Davis struggling, Bart has also started four of the last six games behind the plate and has a chance to take over this job if he keeps swinging the bat well. Remember that Bart was once a trendy catching prospect before Davis became a trendy catching prospect. Just 27 years old, it’s possible that Bart just needed a change of scenery. He’s worth taking a gamble on in all two-catcher leagues. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

  • Boone: Jon Berti nearing rehab assignment
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Jon Berti (groin) could potentially start a minor league rehab assignment this weekend.

  • Nearing rehab assignment
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that Berti (groin) could begin a rehab assignment Sunday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Berti is nearly two weeks removed from suffering a left groin strain and is almost ready to test things out in game action. The utility player shouldn't need too many rehab games before rejoining the Yanks. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago
