• Receiving Thursday off
Bryant is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Bryant will be joined on the bench by Elias Diaz, Charlie Blackmon and Brendan Rodgers as the Rockies rest four key regulars for the day game after a night game. After being activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Bryant started at first base in both of the first two games of the series in Oakland, going 1-for-8 with two walks between the contests. Elehuris Montero will replace Bryant at first base Thursday. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago

  • Getting breather Thursday
Blackmon is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Blackmon will be joined on the bench by Elias Diaz, Kris Bryant and Brendan Rodgers as the Rockies rest four key regulars for the day game after a night game. Hunter Goodman will pick up the start at designated hitter in place of Blackmon. Rotowire.com 57 minutes ago
  • Resting Thursday
Diaz is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Diaz will be joined on the bench by Charlie Blackmon, Kris Bryant and Brendan Rodgers as the Rockies rest four key regulars for the day game after a night game. Jacob Stallings will fill in behind the plate in place of Diaz, who went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBI in Wednesday's 4-3 win. Rotowire.com 59 minutes ago

  • Moving back to bench role
Madrigal is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: Madrigal had started at second base or third base in seven of the past eight games, but his opportunities to pick up playing time in the infield are likely to be more limited moving forward after shortstop Dansby Swanson and second baseman Nico Hoerner both recently returned from injuries. The 27-year-old hasn't done much with the opportunities he's received with the Cubs this season, slashing .213/.276/.250 with no home runs and one stolen base across 87 plate appearances. • Getting rest Thursday
Amaya is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: Amaya will receive a breather as Chicago and Atlanta wrap up their series with a day game after a night game. Yan Gomes will check in behind the dish to replace Amaya, who had started at catcher in five of the Cubs' previous six games. Rotowire.com Today, 10:30 am

  • Activated, optioned to Triple-A
The Rays reinstated Baz (elbow) from the injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Baz has been on the injured list all season while completing the final stages of recovery from his July 2022 Tommy John surgery. The 24-year-old righty started four games at Triple-A during his rehab assignment, posting a 6.00 ERA and 1.92 WHIP while striking out eight batters and walking 11 through 12 innings. He'll remain with Durham despite being fully recovered, though there is still a possibility he contributes to the Rays' pitching staff later this season. Rotowire.com Today, 10:08 am

  • Sitting against right-hander
Soderstrom is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: Soderstrom had started each of the previous six games against right-handers, but he'll begin Thursday's contest on the bench as the Athletics take on righty Ryan Feltner. Soderstrom sports a .689 OPS and 42.1 percent strikeout rate in 11 contests with the big club this season. J.D. Davis will cover first base Thursday in Soderstrom's stead. • Homer, double in win
Winn went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Winn's seventh-inning solo shot ended up being the difference in this game. The shortstop is on a roll, having hit safely in his last 11 games. During that span, he's gone 15-for-41 (.366) with two homers, seven RBI and two stolen bases. He's up to a .295/.348/.432 slash line over 157 plate appearances this season, and he's now hit leadoff against the last two southpaws the Cardinals have faced. Rotowire.com Today, 10:02 am
  • Shane Baz continues to improve in rehab starts
Shane Baz allowed one run on three hits in four innings for Triple-A Durham on Wednesday night.

Advice: More importantly, Baz was up to 76 pitches and induced 14 whiffs in just four innings on the day. He had a 66 percent strike right but his overall command still needs some work, walking three batters and hitting one. His stuff has graded out above-average but command is often the last thing to come back after Tommy John surgery, so we’ll hope that he can iron that out in his next starts. He may have one more rehab start before being activated off his rehab assignment, but we shouldn’t expect more than five innings in his few first outings. Rotoworld Today, 9:50 am
