Thomas went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in Friday's 8-1 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Thomas provided the big blow in the Nationals' seven-run third inning, cranking a three-run homer off Shaun Anderson, his fifth this season. The 28-year-old outfielder extended his hit streak to eight games -- he's gone 10-for-29 (.345) in that span. Overall, Thomas is slashing .231/.295/.359 with 21 RBI, 18 runs scored and 16 stolen bases through 40 games this year. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

    • Lane Thomas mashes three-run homer
Lane Thomas went 2-for-5 on Friday with a home run, three RBI, and a run scored in a win over the Marlins.

Advice: Thomas has once again been a dynamo this season in the heart of the Nationals’ order. The home run was his fifth in just 40 games - a 20 homer pace - to go along with 16 stolen bases. His .231 batting average and .295 on-base percentage are a bit of a drag, but are easy to stomach with those gaudy counting numbers. Rotoworld Today, 6:10 pm

    • Returns to lineup
Seager (hamstring) is serving as the Rangers' designated hitter and batting second Friday against the Mariners.

Advice: Seager was dealing with tightness in his hamstring while warming up for Thursday's game, and he was scratched from the lineup as a precaution after having missed four games earlier in the week due to hamstring problems. The issue has now subsided ahead of Friday's contest, and he will look to remain hot at the plate after going 8-for-21 with a homer and four RBI in six games since the beginning of June. • Logs steal Friday
Herrera went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 3-0 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Herrera is up to four steals this season, three of which he's recorded over 11 games in June. The catcher is batting .316 (12-for-38) this month, adding five doubles, seven runs scored and one RBI. For the season, he's at a steady .273/.335/.366 slash line with three home runs, 17 RBI, 22 runs scored and six doubles over 179 plate appearances. Herrera has started behind the dish just once in the last five games, though it's unclear why his playing time has dipped since Pedro Pages has made little impact with his bat. • Clayton Kershaw to make rehab start on Wednesday
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) will make his first minor league rehab start at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday.

Advice: Kershaw made it through another simulated game without issue on Thursday, so this was seemingly the most obvious next step for him. The 36-year-old hurler is going to need several outings there to build up his stamina and is expected to be ready to join the Dodgers’ rotation at some point around the All-Star break. • Next step could be rehab stint
Kershaw (shoulder) completed three simulated innings at Dodger Stadium on Thursday, and he could be ready to pitch in rehab games with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, per MLB.com.

Advice: Kershaw's fastball hit 88-89 mph in the sim game, per Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times, which is in the range of his usual velocity over the past three seasons. Manager Dave Roberts proclaimed the future Hall of Famer to be "much further" along in his recovery than initially expected. Kershaw will almost certainly need to log multiple rehab starts, and the Dodgers are very unlikely to rush him back, but the southpaw could be ready to make his season debut sometime in July. • Blows save opportunity Thursday
Scott (5-5) took the loss and blew a save against the Mets on Thursday, allowing two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter over one-third of an inning.

Advice: Scott was 8-for-9 in save chances coming into Thursday and hadn't blown a save since mid-April. In fact, he had rattled off 19 straight outings without allowing an earned run, racking up five wins and seven saves during that stretch. However, the southpaw couldn't protect a one-run, ninth-inning lead versus New York, issuing a leadoff walk to Francisco Lindor before serving up a walk-off two-run blast to J.D. Martinez two batters later. Despite the implosion Thursday, Scott has pitched well enough this season to not currently be in danger of losing his closing role, but that success could also make him a prime candidate to be dealt by the rebuilding Marlins. • Crushes three-run homer in win
O'Neill went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in a 9-3 win over the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: O'Neill singled in the first inning then broke the game open in the fourth, crushing a three-run homer off Aaron Nola that traveled 430 feet over the Green Monster. After returning at DH from a knee injury Wednesday, O'Neill got the start in right field and hit his first home run since May 19. O'Neill endured a terrible May, hitting .151 with two home runs and five RBI over 73 at-bats but has opened June going 7-for-16 with a homer and five RBI in just five contests. Health has always been a concern for O'Neill, as he has eclipsed 100 games played in a season just once, but he is now slashing .256/.356/.512 with 12 home runs in 2024. • O’Neill crushes 12th home run Thursday
Tyler O’Neill went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run against the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: O’Neill’s home run was his 12th and his first since May 19th against St. Louis. He was back in right field after missing Tuesday’s game with knee discomfort and occupying the designated hitter spot on Wednesday. Fantasy managers have to be pleased with these developments.
