    • Paul Skenes strong for seven against Rays
      Paul Skenes was uninvolved in the decision Sunday after allowing one run in seven innings and striking out eight against the Rays.

      Advice: The homer off the bat of Yandy Díaz led off the game. The Rays had no further luck, though, at least not until Skenes left the game to begin the eighth. It’s the first time in eight big-league starts that Skenes has gotten through seven. He still hasn’t taken a loss, and his ERA stands at 2.14. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:14 pm
       
    • Tosses career-high seven innings
      Skenes did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over seven innings against the Rays. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Skenes got off to a bit of a rough start, allowing two extra-base hits on his first four pitches, including a leadoff homer to Yandy Diaz on the first pitch of the game, but Skenes did not allow another run for the rest of his outing. The first overall pick in the 2023 Draft continues to dominate even as his workload increases, as he struck out eight over a career-high seven innings. He's now allowed just two earned runs and has struck out 23 over his last three starts spanning 19.1 innings. He also continues to display impressive control, having not walked more than one batter during any game since walking two in his first career start May 11.     • Moving back into rotation
      Turnbull is scheduled to join the rotation and start Wednesday against the Tigers in Detroit, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

      Advice: He'll be taking over the rotation spot that previously belonged to Taijuan Walker, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with right index finger inflammation after developing what manager Rob Thomson termed as a "hot spot" on his pitching hand. Though an injury of this sort wouldn't seem to portend a lengthy absence for Walker, Turnbull could end up sticking around as the Phillies' No. 5 starter once Walker is healthy, so long as Turnbull comes close to recapturing the excellent form he displayed as a member of the rotation earlier this season. The Phillies have stated that they plan to monitor Turnbull's workload this season after he missed all of 2022 while recovering from Tommy John surgery and a large portion of 2023 due to neck discomfort, but the 31-year-old right-hander has made it difficult for the club to stick to that plan while he's performed so-so as a reliever (4.26 ERA, 14.1 K-BB% in 10 appearances) but exceptionally in his six starts (1.67 ERA, 20.5 K-BB%). His upcoming start against his former Tigers club will be his first since April 30, but Turnbull worked three scoreless innings (49 pitches) in his most recent relief outing Friday and is being targeted for around 70 pitches Wednesday, per Thomson.     • Strikes out 10 in victory
      Glasnow (8-5) picked up the win over the Angels on Saturday, allowing one run on two hits over seven innings while striking out 10.

      Advice: Glasnow got off to a great start, going 1-2-3 through each of the first three innings while striking out five of the first 11 batters he faced. He would allow just one unearned run over the first six frames before leaving a slider up in the zone in the seventh, which Logan O'Hoppe launched into the stands for a solo shot. Glasnow has been spectacular as of late, with the exception of his road outing against the Yankees three starts back, allowing no more than three hits in four of his last five outings.     • Tyler Glasnow dominates Angels with 10 strikeouts
      Tyler Glasnow recorded 10 strikeouts and was charged with two runs (one earned) over seven innings on Saturday in a win over the Angels.

      Advice: Glasnow took the ball for Saturday’s Freeway Series finale at Dodger Stadium and authored another dominant performance, notching his sixth double-digit strikeout effort in the process. He generated only nine swinging strikes, but threw an astounding 51 of 74 pitches for strikes to finish with a near-elite 36 percent CSW. He gave up only two hits as a fifth-inning solo shot by Logan O’Hoppe accounted for the lone earned run against him in this one. He’s bounced back following a rough outing against the Yankees back on June 9 by completing seven innings in each of his last two starts, while notching 19 strikeouts and allowing just one earned run during that span. He’ll carry a sparkling 2.88 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 135/25 K/BB ratio across 100 innings (16 starts) into a road matchup on Saturday against the Giants. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:33 am
       
    • Tosses first career complete game
      Ober (7-4) earned the win over Oakland on Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out 10 batters over nine innings.

      Advice: Ober was extremely efficient in the impressive outing, needing just 89 pitches to polish off the first complete game of his career. The right-hander threw 70 of those pitches for strikes and racked up a career-best 23 whiffs. Ober did give up a pair of solo homers -- just the third time through 15 starts that he's allowed multiple home runs -- but those didn't hurt much with Minnesota's offense putting up 10 runs. Ober carries a 4.50 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 83:20 K:BB over 82 innings on the campaign. Rotowire.com Saturday, 9:47 pm
       
    • Strong again in win
      Blanco (8-2) allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out four over seven innings to earn the win over the Orioles on Saturday.

      Advice: Blanco wasn't as dominant as he was with seven no-hit innings last weekend versus the Tigers, but it was still an impressive showing. He's allowed just two runs over 20 innings across his last three starts after giving up four runs in each of his two outings before this stretch of dominance. The right-hander continues to thrive in his first full year as a starter, pitching to a 2.34 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 79:35 K:BB through 84.2 innings over 14 starts.     • Bailey Ober hurls complete game with 10 strikeouts
      Bailey Ober threw all nine innings while allowing just two runs with 10 strikeouts in a 10-2 rout for the Twins over the Athletics on Saturday.

      Advice: Ober gave up a pair of solo homers, and outside of those roundtrippers the 28-year-old was brilliant. He didn’t walk anyone, and even with 10 strikeouts, the right-hander needed only 89 pitches for the complete game. The A’s offense is ever-so-beatable, but credit Ober for another fantastic pitching performance against Oakland. He’s lined up to face the Mariners in Seattle on Friday.     • Ronel Blanco holds O’s to one run over seven
      Ronel Blanco allowed one run in seven innings to get a win Saturday over the Orioles.

      Advice: Blanco gave up a homer to Jordan Westburg in the second inning, but it was smooth sailing for the right-hander from that point on. He did put three runners on via walk, but he was able to strike out four and limited the loaded Baltimore lineup at an impressive level. Blanco has been one of the biggest bright spots for the Astros in 2024, and he’ll take a 2.34 ERA into a scheduled start against the Mets next weekend. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:29 pm
