    • Bailey Ober hurls complete game with 10 strikeouts
      Bailey Ober threw all nine innings while allowing just two runs with 10 strikeouts in a 10-2 rout for the Twins over the Athletics on Saturday.

      Advice: Ober gave up a pair of solo homers, and outside of those roundtrippers the 28-year-old was brilliant. He didn’t walk anyone, and even with 10 strikeouts, the right-hander needed only 89 pitches for the complete game. The A’s offense is ever-so-beatable, but credit Ober for another fantastic pitching performance against Oakland. He’s lined up to face the Mariners in Seattle on Friday.     • Yordan Alvarez homers as Astros top Orioles
      Yordan Alvarez hit a two-run homer to help the Astros defeat the Orioles on Saturday.

      Advice: Alvarez hit his 16th homer of the season when he connected on an offering from Corbin Burnes. The pair of RBI gives the 26-year-old slugger 41 on the season. Alvarez remains one of the best power threats in baseball and that’s not going to change any time soon. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:31 pm
       
    • Ronel Blanco holds O’s to one run over seven
      Ronel Blanco allowed one run in seven innings to get a win Saturday over the Orioles.

      Advice: Blanco gave up a homer to Jordan Westburg in the second inning, but it was smooth sailing for the right-hander from that point on. He did put three runners on via walk, but he was able to strike out four and limited the loaded Baltimore lineup at an impressive level. Blanco has been one of the biggest bright spots for the Astros in 2024, and he’ll take a 2.34 ERA into a scheduled start against the Mets next weekend. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:29 pm

    • Josh Jung (wrist) to take batting practice Tuesday
      Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters Josh Jung (wrist) will take batting practice on Tuesday to determine whether he’s ready to return.

      Advice: Jung has been dealing with some minor soreness in his surgically-repaired wrist, which isn’t uncommon at this stage of his rehabilitation process.       MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart reports Kyle Tucker (shin) has yet to resume baseball activities.

      Advice: Tucker is still walking with a limp and has yet to resume any baseball activities at this juncture. There was some optimism earlier this week that he was getting close, but clearly is still going to need some extra time to recover. There isn’t a definitive timeline for his return to Houston’s lineup at this point. He’s been out since early June recovering from a shin contusion. It’s fair to wonder if he’s dealing with something more serious like a hairline fracture at this point. There should be some clarity on his status at some point in the near future.     • Aiming for return Monday
      Jung (wrist) told reporters Saturday that he believes he could return to the Rangers on Monday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.

      Advice: Jung noted that his wrist still feels stiff when swinging the bat, and that his return is still under discussion. His right wrist was fractured after being hit by a pitch April 1, and he underwent surgery one day later. The 26-year-old third baseman has been working his way back from early-April surgery to repair a fractured wrist and figures to be ready to roll at some point in the coming days.       Arraez went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's 9-5 win over the Brewers.

      Advice: Arraez entered Friday with just four hits over his last six games, an unusual lack of production for the contact-heavy infielder. He made an impact with his lone knock Friday, sparking the Padres' comeback with a fifth-inning blast. Over 76 games between the Padres and the Marlins this year, he's slashing .314/.349/.385 with two homers, 21 RBI, 43 runs scored, 15 doubles, a triple and three stolen bases. He's the only player in the majors with over 100 hits so far in 2024, but that's led to his usual empty batting average, as he offers little in the way of power or speed and won't generate many RBI as a leadoff hitter.       Luis Arraez hit a two-run homer against the Brewers on Friday in a win for the Padres.

      Advice: Arraez is not known for his power, but the 27-year-old was able to golf out a pitch down and in for his second homer of the season.
