      Christian Walker went 2-for-5 and slugged a two-run homer on Tuesday night as the Diamondbacks fell to the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

      Advice: The 33-year-old slugger evened the score at 2-2 when he clobbered a 402-foot (107.1 mph EV) two-run shot off of Bobby Miller in the fourth inning. He also added a two-out single off of Alex Vesia in the seventh inning.       Advice: Bellinger has started to get going after a relatively slow start to the season. He was batting .226 through the end of April, but turned that around by hitting .290 in May and .279 in June. Bellinger is now off to a solid start in July, and after a nice bounceback effort in his first season with the Cubs last year following a disappointing 2022 campaign, the 28-year-old appears primed for a strong finish to 2024.       Advice: Suzuki went deep with two runners on in the bottom of the ninth inning, bringing the Cubs within two, but the comeback effort came up short. The outfielder now has 11 home runs on the season, including three in his last six games.       Advice: Bellinger doubled in the second inning to score Nico Hoerner and give the Cubs their first run of the game. It would be the only run the Cubs would score through the first eight innings before Seiya Suzuki hit a three-run homer in a ninth-inning rally. Bellinger continues to stay hot since having his nine-game hit streak ended last week, as he’s now hit safely in three-straight games and is slashing a solid .270/.329/.421 on the season.       Seiya Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Phillies.

      Advice: After being held to just one run through the first eight innings, the Cubs put three more on the board in the final frame thanks to Suzuki’s three-run bomb that scored Cody Bellinger and Michael Busch.     • Bryan Woo (hamstring) resumes throwing
      Bryan Woo (hamstring) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session over the weekend.

      Advice: Mariners manager Scott Servais told reporters Woo will throw a more extended side session this week. The 24-year-old righty hit the injured list last week with a right hamstring strain, but the fact that he’s already throwing is a sign that he’s not going to require a lengthy absence.       Ruiz went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Monday's extra-inning loss to the Mets.

    • MacKenzie Gore denied win after strong showing
      MacKenzie Gore allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings and struck out eight Monday against the Mets.

      Advice: Gore was at 104 pitches, so it’s kind or understandable that he was pulled in the sixth. Still, he seemed to be very much in control at that point. He’d given up just a soft single before rebounding to retire the next two batters in the sixth. The Nationals pulled him with a 2-0 lead in favor of Derek Law, and the Mets, aided by a CJ Abrams error, went on to score three runs in the frame.
