    • Rehab assignment 7-to-10 days away
Reds manager David Bell said Friday that Friedl (wrist) could be about 7-to-10 days away from beginning a rehab assignment, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Friedl has been building up strength in his fractured right wrist and ramping up his activity level. Things are going well so far and if he continues on the same pace it sounds like he could be cleared for games before the end of the month. While there's no timetable yet for his return to the active roster, Friedl makes for a viable stash if you have a free IL spot. Rotowire.com Today, 12:47 pm

    • Bell: Freidl could begin rehab assignment soon
Reds manager David Bell told reporters that TJ Friedl (wrist) could be 10-14 days away from a rehab assignment if all stays on track.

Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder was placed on the 10-day injured list prior to the regular season, but this is good news for fantasy managers that are hoping he can get back onto the field around early May. Friedl was diagnosed with a fractured right wrist in mid March and hopes to follow up a career-best 2023 season when he slashed .279/.352/.467 with 18 homers, 66 RBI and 27 stolen bases across 556 plate appearances. • Out again with illness
Encarnacion-Strand (illness) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand missed Wednesday's game due to an illness and still isn't ready to play following Thursday's off day for the Reds. Consider him day-to-day. Spencer Steer is covering first base Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 11:08 am
    • Shifts to 60-day injured list
Story (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: The move was strictly procedural, as Story has already been ruled out for the rest of the 2024 season. The transaction opened a 40-man roster spot for the newly acquired Vladimir Gutierrez. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:26 pm

Red Sox transferred SS Trevor Story to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The procedural move opens up a spot on Boston’s 40-man roster for right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez. The 31-year-old shortstop underwent season-ending shoulder surgery last week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:08 pm

    • Christian Encarnacion-Strand day-to-day with illness
Christian Encarnacion-Strand is day-to-day due to illness.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand wasn’t feeling well, which led to him sitting out Wednesday’s series finale against the Mariners. The 24-year-old slugger figures to be ready to return to Cincinnati’s lineup for Friday’s series opener against the Angels. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:10 pm
    • Smacks fifth homer
Abrams went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers.

Advice: He drove the second big-league pitch of Landon Knack's career over the fence in right-center field, giving the Nats all the offense they would need as Jake Irvin and the bullpen combined for a shutout. Abrams launched a career-high 18 homers in 2023 but is well ahead of that pace to begin this season, slashing .295/.358/.656 with five home runs, three steals, 10 runs and 11 RBI in 15 games. • Picks up first steal of 2024
Alvarez went 1-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Pirates.

Advice: The 22-year-old doesn't run much, but he's never been caught stealing in the majors, going 3-for-3 in 143 MLB games. Alvarez is struggling to get going at the plate this year, slashing .241/.293/.370 through 15 games with a homer, a steal, seven runs and eight RBI, but he remains locked in as the Mets' near-everyday catcher. • Smacks fifth homer
De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Mariners.

Advice: De La Cruz provided the lone run for the Reds via a solo shot off Bryce Miller in the top of the second, giving the shortstop five home runs already on the season. Four of those long balls have come over his last 10 games, though De La Cruz is just 2-for-17 (.117) at the plate over his last five. He's also struck out multiple times in three of his last five contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:57 am
