    • Paul Skenes fans eight Dodgers, moves to 3-0
Paul Skenes improved to 3-0 after allowing three runs in five innings and striking out eight Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Skenes surrendered homers to Shohei Ohtani and Andy Pages, matching his total of two allowed in his first four starts, but he once against received ample run support from a Pirates offense that has often scuffled for, well, going on 30 years now. The team has scored 10, nine, six, 10 and nine runs in Skenes’ five starts. That’s 11 more runs in five games than the 33 runs totaled in Jared Jones’ 12 starts this season. • Andy Pages hits sixth homer against Pirates
Andy Pages went 2-for-4 and hit his sixth homer against the Pirates on Wednesday.

Advice: Pages seems to have gotten it back together lately, which is huge for him. James Outman has been tearing it up in Triple-A and is the better defensive center fielder, so Pages might have been due to head back to the minors if not for him going 11-for-22 in his last seven games. As is, the Dodgers will likely stick with the status quo for a little while longer. It’s easy to imagine Outman overtaking Pages at some point, though. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:59 pm

    • Anthony Volpe collects three hits in win Wednesday
Anthony Volpe went 3-for-5 with a triple and a pair of runs scored as the Yankees topped the Twins on Wednesday evening in New York.

Advice: Volpe led off the home half of the first inning with a single and came around to score the game’s first run on a ground ball off the bat of Aaron Judge. He also singled in the fifth inning and scored on Aaron Judge’s three-run triple. Volpe then smacked a three-bagger of his own in the eighth inning, but the Bombers couldn’t cash him in. He’s having an outstanding season atop the Yankees’ lineup — hitting .290/.355/.448 with six homers, 25 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:46 pm

    • Blake Snell’s MRI reveals mild groin strain
An MRI showed only a mild groin strain for Blake Snell, according to Giants manager Bob Melvin.

Advice: It sounds like this will be a shorter absence than the month-long one he had just returned from. He will miss at least two starts after being placed on the injured list Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 11:25 am

    • MRI shows mild groin strain
Snell was diagnosed Wednesday with a mild left groin strain following an MRI, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: The Giants expect to have a better idea Thursday as to a potential timetable for Snell to return to the mound, but the initial imaging seems to have revealed relatively good news. Snell's tenure with the Giants has gotten off to a rocky start, as he's posted a 9.51 ERA in five starts and has made a pair of trips to the injured list. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:22 am

    • Launches homer Tuesday
Naylor went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a second run scored in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Royals.

Advice: Naylor was part of the Guardians' comeback push -- his fourth-inning homer cut the deficit to 5-3. After being one of the team's hottest hitters in April, the first baseman has hit .178 with a .719 OPS since the start of May. Naylor's power is still coming through with 16 homers, a .500 slugging percentage and a .271 ISO. He hasn't had a pronounced issue with strikeouts either, fanning at just a 16.2 percent rate while walking at a career-best 10.3 percent clip. Naylor's .308 batting average last year was likely unsustainable, but he's a better overall hitter than he's been over the last month. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:56 am

    • Cruises to eighth win
Gil (8-1) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing one hit and three walks over six scoreless innings in a 5-1 victory over the Twins. He struck out six.

Advice: The 26-year-old didn't miss a beat after being named the American League Rookie and Pitcher of the Month for May. Gil extended his quality-start streak to seven with the performance, and he's won all seven of those outings with an eye-popping 0.60 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 50:15 K:BB through 44.2 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which is scheduled to be a marquee matchup against the Dodgers in Yankee Stadium this weekend. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:04 am

    • Anthony Volpe extends on-base streak to 30 games
Anthony Volpe singled on Tuesday in the Yankees’ win over the Twins, extending his on-base streak to 30 consecutive games.

Advice: Volpe extended his on-base streak, which is tied with teammate Aaron Judge for the longest in baseball this season, by slicing a third-inning single into shallow right field before racing around the bases to score on Judge’s two-run double later in the frame. • Luis Gil dazzles over six scoreless vs. Twins
Luis Gil recorded six strikeouts over six shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Twins.

Advice: The breakout sensation of the 2024 campaign so far, Gil kept rolling on Tuesday evening at Yankee Stadium, scattering one hit and three walks over six nearly-flawless frames against a talented Minnesota lineup. He’s emerged as an early AL Cy Young Award contender this season, allowing one earned run or fewer in seven consecutive starts since May 1. The 26-year-old righty won’t be able to sustain these sublime results long-term, but he’s rapidly evolved into a legitimate upper-echelon fantasy contributor, thanks to his ability to consistently miss bats and avoid hard contact. He’ll carry a microscopic 1.82 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 85/34 K/BB ratio across 69 1/3 innings (12 starts) into a challenging matchup on Sunday against the Dodgers. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:40 pm
