    • Daulton Varsho goes hitless versus Astros
Daulton Varsho went hitless in a seventh consecutive start Monday, finishing 0-for-3 with a walk against the Astros.

Advice: Varsho did get a hit off the bench Saturday, but he’s 1-for-28 with 13 strikeouts since June 19, dropping his average to .197. There’s too much homer and steal potential here to make Varsho droppable in fantasy leagues, but it’s tempting. Of course, he’s especially valuable in 6x6 leagues that include 280-foot flyouts as a category. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago

    • Undergoes MRI on knee
Kiner-Falefa is awaiting results of an MRI on his left knee, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

Advice: Kiner-Falefa was a late scratch from Monday's lineup against the Astros after feeling something in his knee while stretching pregame. Ernie Clement was in the lineup for the Blue Jays on Monday at third base, where Kiner-Falefa has been seeing most of his playing time. It's possible an update on Kiner-Falefa's status will be available later Monday. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago

    • Earns first quality start in loss
Rodriguez (0-3) took the loss Monday versus Houston, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The 27-year-old rookie pocketed his first career quality start in his longest outing of the season. Rodriguez generated 13 whiffs out of his 83 pitches to produce six punchouts. The Toronto right-hander's ERA now stands at 4.63 across 23.1 innings with 23:13 K:BB. With this performance, Rodriguez is likely to draw another start over Bowden Francis. He currently lines up to make his next appearance against Seattle on the road this weekend. Rotowire.com 46 minutes ago

    • Throws, hits in cage
Bryant (oblique) did some throwing and hit in the batting cage Monday, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

Advice: There remains no timetable for Bryant's return to action, but he does appear to be making progress as he works his way back from a left oblique strain. Bryant has already missed nearly a month of action and will require a rehab assignment before being activated. Rotowire.com 51 minutes ago

    • Bags 13th save
Hader picked up the save in Monday's 3-1 win over the Blue Jays, pitching one inning with one strikeout and allowing a solo home run.

Advice: The Houston southpaw entered the ninth with a three-run lead and fired 13 pitches to lock up his 178th career save. However, Hader also allowed his sixth homer of the year -- a 404-foot solo shot to Ernie Clement -- raising his 2024 home-run rate to 1.4 HR/9. The 30-year-old closer sports a 3.82 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 60:11 K:BB over 37.2 total innings while going 13-for-14 in save chances. Rotowire.com 52 minutes ago

    • Poised for season debut next week
Marquez (elbow) will make one more rehab start before rejoining the Rockies' rotation next week, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Advice: Marquez holds a 9.58 ERA and 14:4 K:BB over 10.1 innings in his first five rehab starts and in his last outing with Triple-A Albuquerque retired just two batters before getting pulled. His highest pitch count during his rehab assignment has been 52 (on June 16) and he threw just 33 pitches in his last start. Marquez is working his way back from Tommy John surgery. • Not in lineup versus southpaw
Mitchell is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest in Colorado.

Advice: Mitchell was activated from the 60-day injured list earlier Monday but will begin his first game back on the bench. It's not a surprise, as the Rockies are starting lefty Austin Gomber, and most of the playing time for the left-handed hitting Mitchell figures to come versus righties. Rotowire.com Today, 2:51 pm
    • Out against left-hander
Frelick is not in the lineup for Monday's game in Colorado.

Advice: With the Rockies sending southpaw Austin Gomber to the hill, the left-handed hitting Sal Frelick will take a seat. Christian Yelich, Blake Perkins and Jackson Chourio will be the Brewers' outfield trio. Rotowire.com Today, 2:48 pm

    • Returns to Milwaukee lineup
Ortiz (neck) will start at third base and bat leadoff in Monday's game in Colorado.

Advice: Ortiz has been absent from the Brewers' lineup for the previous three contests due to neck discomfort, but he's been cleared to return for the start of a road trip. The 25-year-old returns to a .275/.380/.455 batting line. Rotowire.com Today, 2:45 pm
