    • Lands on IL with groin strain
The Giants placed Snell on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left groin strain.

Advice: Snell had to depart Sunday's start versus the Yankees with the injury. He had been set to undergo an MRI, and while the results of that exam have yet to be revealed, the strain is significant enough to cost the left-hander at least a couple weeks of action. It's uncertain who will fill Snell's spot in the Giants' rotation, but one option is having Keaton Winn (forearm) skip a rehab start and return this week. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:10 pm

    • Giants place Blake Snell (groin) on 15-day IL
Giants placed LHP Blake Snell on the 15-day injured list with a strained left groin.

Advice: The Giants could give Mason Black another shot while Snell is out, but they’ll get by with what they have for now. They’re off Thursday, so that will help. Snell is 0-3 with a 9.51 ERA in six starts this season. Rotoworld Monday, 3:05 pm

    • Secures save Sunday
Diaz walked one batter and struck out another in a scoreless inning Sunday. He earned a save over the Cubs.

Advice: Diaz worked around a leadoff walk to finish off the 5-2 victory. He's struggled at times throughout the year but appears to be turning a corner; Diaz has allowed one run over his last 5.2 innings while converting five straight save opportunities. The 27-year-old righty has 12 saves with a 23:16 K:BB and 5.64 ERA through 22.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Monday, 6:08 am

    • Works into seventh
Bello did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Bello cruised through the first four in allowing only two baserunners and finished the sixth inning in line for a quality start and the win. For the first time all year, Bello was called upon to go back out for the seventh, but after recording one out, he allowed the next two runners to reach base prior to being pulled, with both runners eventually coming around to score, adversely impacting his final line. It was only the second time this year that Bello has not been involved in the decision. His next opportunity to take the hill will likely come next weekend when Boston travels to Chicago to take on the White Sox. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:06 pm

    • Blake Snell (groin) expected to land on 15-day IL
Giants’ manager Bob Melvin told reporters after Sunday’s loss to the Yankees that Blake Snell is expected to land on the 15-day injured list after re-injuring his groin.

Advice: Melvin noted that Snell will undergo an MRI exam on Monday to determine the extent of the damage, but it sounds like he’s going to be shelved for a while. Snell dealt with a similar injury near the end of April and wound up missing a month’s worth of action. The 31-year-old left-hander has been an unmitigated disaster for the Giants and for fantasy managers, going 0-3 with a 9.51 ERA and 1.94 WHIP over 23 2/3 innings in six starts on the season. • Likely headed to IL
Giants manager Bob Melvin acknowledged after Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Yankees that Snell is set to undergo an MRI on his left groin and will likely land on the 15-day injured list, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Snell exited in the fifth inning of his start Sunday with left groin tightness, an injury that's especially concerning after he spent time on the IL earlier this season with a Grade 2 left adductor strain. The team will likely wait on the results of Snell's MRI before officially placing him on the IL, but fantasy managers should prepare for the left-hander to miss at least a couple of turns through the rotation. After winning the NL Cy Young Award as a member of the Padres in 2023, Snell has had a disastrous start to the 2024 campaign. In addition to being plagued by the lower-body injuries, Snell didn't make his season debut until April 8 due to his late signing with the Giants and has yet to reach five innings in any of his six starts while turning in ugly ratios (9.51 ERA, 1.94 WHIP). • Dealing with groin injury
Snell exited Sunday's matchup with the Yankees early due to a tight left groin, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Advice: Snell was ultimately tagged with three runs over 4.2 innings in the outing Sunday, while his seven strikeouts matched a season high. It's unclear whether the left-hander will be forced to miss any additional action with the groin injury. His next projected start is tentatively set to come Saturday on the road against the Rangers. • Removed early Sunday
Snell was removed from Sunday's contest against the Yankees in the fifth inning with an undisclosed injury, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Snell had tossed 4.2 innings of one-run ball while striking seven batters, but he was forced to exit with the bases loaded in the top of the fifth inning. The left-hander had already thrown 99 pitches in the contest, so he was likely facing his final batter of the game anyway. Reliever Erik Miller surrendered a two-run double to Alex Verdugo when he entered the contest, tacking on two more earned runs to Snell's line. More information on the southpaw's status will likely come following the conclusion of the game. Rotowire.com Sunday, 2:40 pm

    • Blake Snell exits start with injury on Sunday
Blake Snell was removed from Sunday’s start against the Yankees in the fifth inning due to an apparent injury.

Advice: It’s still unclear exactly what happened here, but with two outs in the fifth inning Snell received a visit from manager Bob Melvin, the pitching coach and the training staff — after which the decision was made to pull him from the game. To add insult to injury, Erik Miller came on and allowed a two-run single that plated a pair of Snell’s runners. Ultimately, he was charged with three runs on five hits and three walks over his 4 2/3 innings of work while striking out seven batters. Expect the Giants to provide an update on his status shortly.
