    • Jarren Duran swats homer in blowout defeat
Jarren Duran hit a solo homer in a blowout loss to the Padres on Saturday.

Advice: Duran took Michael King deep in what ended up being the only run of the game for the Red Sox in the sixth inning. It also came with Boston trailing 10-0, but still counts just the same. Duran has been nothing short of spectacular in June with a .366/.420/.594 slash, and he’s now up to eight homers and 38 RBI to go along with his 20 stolen bases across the 2024 campaign. • Jackson Merrill homers and doubles in blowout win
Jackson Merrill went 3-for-5 with a homer, double and two RBI in a blowout win Saturday over the Red Sox.

Advice: Merrill continues to impress in his rookie campaign, and his slash after the three-hit game is now a healthy .288/.322/.456. The 21-year-old outfielder swatted a solo homer off Tanner Houck — one of three homers for the Padres off Houck on Saturday — and he drove in a run with a single for good measure. Merrill has superstar fantasy upside, but the current version shown in 2024 is pretty darn good, too. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago

    • Manny Machado homers twice in rout of Red Sox
Manny Machado homered twice and drove in five runs in an 11-1 blowout victory over the Red Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Machado blasted both homers off Tanner Houck, a three-run shot in the fifth and a two-run blast in the second. It’s the first multi-homer game for the 31-year-old in 2024, but five of his 10 homers have come thus far in the month of June. Machado’s also picked up multiple hits in his last three games and six times since June 19, and appears to be righting the ship after a disappointing first two-plus months of the campaign. • Michael King bounces back with six strong in win
Michael King held the Red Sox to one run over six innings with six strikeouts while picking up a win Saturday.

Advice: King didn’t have to be at his best with Tanner Houck faltering, but he was pretty close to it, anyway. The right-hander gave up a solo homer to Jarren Duran, and that was it in terms of scoring blemishes. King has been fairly up-and-down in his first year with the Padres, but there have been enough quality starts like this one to keep the optimism going. He’s scheduled to face the Diamondbacks next weekend. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago

    • Tanner Houck struggles in loss to Padres
Tanner Houck gave up eight runs — seven earned — over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Padres on Saturday.

Advice: Houck has been fantastic for the overwhelming majority of 2024. There wasn’t anything fantastic about this outing, other than he gave reason for San Diego hitters to have some fun. The right-hander gave up nine hits with one walk, and while he was able to at least add four punchouts, they don’t compensate for giving up three homers. Houck hadn’t allowed more than three runs since April 12, so it’s fair to write this one off as a “pobody’s nerfect.” He’s scheduled to face the Yankees on Friday, and he’ll try and lower an ERA that jumped from 2.18 to 2.67 after this clunker. • Garrett Stubbs homers in loss to Marlins
Garrett Stubbs went 1-for-2 with a solo homer against the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Stubbs put the Phillies on the board with a solo homer off Roddery Muñoz to lead off the third inning, his first homer of the season. It was one of two runs the Phillies would score in the loss to Miami. The 29-year-old backstop has taken over as the primary catcher with J.T. Realmuto on the injured list. He’s slashing .216/.281/.261 across 96 plate appearances. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago

    • Lowe homers in return to lineup Saturday
Brandon Lowe went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk against the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: Lowe’s home run was his sixth of the season. It was certainly good to see him do something productive in his first game back in the Rays’ lineup since breaking his pinkie toe. With Lowe, you have to worry about when the next injury might come. He’s a decent power option in the middle infield as long as he’s playing. Lowe has a .218 average .756 OPS with 23 RBI on the season.

    • Carson Spiers solid in win over Cardinals
Carson Spiers allowed two runs -- one earned -- with four strikeouts over six innings in a win over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Spiers put together a solid start against the Cardinals on Saturday to earn his second win of the season. A double and a single to start the third inning would bring an unearned run in to score after a dropped foul pop error. Paul Goldschmidt took Spiers deep for a solo shot in the sixth for the second run before Spiers closed out the sixth inning for a quality start. He struck out four. The 26-year-old right-hander has been excellent for Cincinnati, posting a 3.13 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 29/7 K/BB ratio across 37 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Tigers at home on Friday. • Sonny Gray chased early in loss to Reds
Sonny Gray allowed six runs -- three earned -- with six strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: Gray had worked through two scoreless innings to start the game before the Reds strung together three straight doubled to start the third inning, driving in two runs. A triple, a walk, and a hit batter loaded the bases with one out in the fifth. A fielding error would bring a run in and keep the bases loaded as Gray was relieved at 92 pitches. All inherited runners would come in to score. The 34-year-old right-hander will look to put this one behind him when he takes a 2.98 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and a 109/23 K/BB ratio across 87 2/3 innings into a road start against the Nationals on Friday.
