    • Casey Mize heading to IL with hamstring strain
Casey Mize (hamstring) will require a trip to the injured list.

Advice: Mize will officially land on the injured list at some point this week due to a left hamstring strain. No word yet on the severity of the issue, but the 27-year-old righty figures to be shelved until after the All-Star break. Rotoworld 56 minutes ago

    • Hitting live BP
Rodriguez (elbow) has taken live BP from the left side, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Rodriguez underwent elbow surgery in December and is slated to miss the entirety of the 2024 season. He slashed .220/.284/.328 as a rookie last season. Rotowire.com 58 minutes ago

    • Casey Mize (hamstring) could head to injured list
Tigers manager AJ Hinch stated in an interview with MLB Network Radio that Casey Mize (hamstring) may need a trip to the injured list.

Advice: The hope was that Mize’s issue was just a cramp in his hamstring, but it turns out it’s at least a little more severe than that. The right-hander has the All-Star break coming up relatively soon, and it’s possible the Tigers could keep the 27-year-old out of action until after that break. Even if he does avoid a trip to the injured list, don’t be surprised if Mize isn’t able to make his next scheduled start over the weekend. Rotoworld Today, 8:28 am

    • Likely headed to injured list
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said in an interview Tuesday that Mize (hamstring) is a likely candidate to be placed on the 15-day injured list, Jim Duquette of MLB Network Radio reports.

Advice: Mize had to depart Sunday's start against the Angels with a left hamstring issue. While the initial hope was that he was merely dealing with a cramp, Hinch said Tuesday that it's more serious than that. Mize would be held out at least through the All-Star break if he is indeed placed on the IL. Matt Manning and Keider Montero are candidates to take Mize's spot in the Tigers' rotation. • Garrett Mitchell reaches twice in 2024 debut
Garrett Mitchell singled and walked in three plate appearances off the bench in his season debut Monday against the Rockies.

Advice: The single was hit 108 mph, so this was definitely a nice start for Mitchell. It’ll take consistent playing time to make him a factor in mixed leagues, so he’s probably not an option right now. He offers plenty of upside, though. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm
    • Joey Ortiz (neck) returns to Brewers lineup
Joey Ortiz is back at third base Monday after a three-game absence due to neck stiffness.

Advice: Ortiz is leading off with the Brewers facing a lefty tonight. He’ll continue to hit low in the order against righties. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:00 pm

    • Not in lineup versus southpaw
Mitchell is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest in Colorado.

Advice: Mitchell was activated from the 60-day injured list earlier Monday but will begin his first game back on the bench. It's not a surprise, as the Rockies are starting lefty Austin Gomber, and most of the playing time for the left-handed hitting Mitchell figures to come versus righties. • Returning to Milwaukee lineup
Ortiz (neck) will start at third base and bat leadoff in Monday's game in Colorado.

Advice: Ortiz has been absent from the Brewers' lineup for the previous three contests due to neck discomfort, but he's been cleared to return for the start of a road trip. The 25-year-old returns to a .275/.380/.455 batting line. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:45 pm

    • Brewers officially activate Garrett Mitchell
Brewers activated OF Garrett Mitchell (finger) from the 60-day IL.

Advice: Mitchell was set to be the Brewers’ starting center fielder before fracturing a finger in spring training. In 12 games at Triple-A during his rehab stint, he hit .318 with four home runs and four steals. He has the power/speed to produce solid fantasy results while hitting in a good lineup in a good home park. He should be added in most formats. Tyler Black was sent down in a corresponding move.
