      Advice: Cronenworth was a key part of San Diego's nine-run eighth inning, knocking in the first two runs of the frame with a single and capping the outburst with an RBI double. The pair of base knocks were much-needed for the second baseman, as he had just one hit over his previous 14 at-bats prior to the big inning.       Pete Alonso went 1-for-5 with an RBI on Friday against the Diamondbacks in his return to the Mets’ lineup.

      Advice: Alonso was able to come off the bench and deliver a pinch-hit double during Thursday’s series opener, less than 24 hours after being diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right hand.     • Bryan Woo (arm) likely to make next start vs. A’s
      Mariners manager Scott Servais said late Friday that Bryan Woo (arm) is expected to make his next start.

      Advice: Servais told reporters Woo was lifted after just 66 pitches since he’s been dealing with some “arm-stuff” and didn’t throw his usual between-starts bullpen session earlier this week. No word on the specific issue Woo is dealing with, but it doesn’t sound serious. It appears likely Seattle is merely exercising some caution with the 24-year-old righty, who has been phenomenal when healthy this season, but there’s zero indication that he’ll miss his next start on Thursday against the Athletics.       Woo allowed three hits and struck out two without walking a batter over six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Friday.

      Advice: Woo needed just 66 pitches (47 strikes) to complete six frames, but that was all for his start. Trent Thornton and Tayler Saucedo combined to allow four runs in the seventh inning, wiping out the Mariners' lead and Woo's chance to earn his third win of the year, but this was still a stellar outing for the 24-year-old. He's now at a 1.30 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and 28:2 K:BB over 27.2 innings across five starts. The Mariners continue to manage his pitch count, but he's completed six innings in each of his last three starts thanks to his efficiency. Woo is projected for a road start in Oakland next week.       Advice: Woo threw just 66 pitches with 47 of them landing in the strike zone, but the Mariners continue to play things cautiously with the 24-year-old in his second MLB season and coming off an injury that caused him to miss a month. Unfortunately it didn’t work out for Seattle, as the 4-0 lead he entered with quickly became a 4-4 game on a grand slam for Jo Adell. Still, another strong outing for Woo that sees his ERA fall to a glistening 1.30. He isn’t missing a ton of bats, but his ability to avoid hard contact has been elite thus far.       Yelich went 5-for-6 with a stolen base, two doubles, five RBI and one run scored in Friday's win against the White Sox.

      Advice: Yelich collected his first five-hit game of 2024 and fifth of his career, achieving the feat for the first time since Aug. 17, 2019. The former MVP has been resurgent since returning from a back injury May 8, hitting .321 (25-for-78) with one homer, six stolen bases, 16 RBI and 14 runs scored.       Christian Yelich went 5-for-6, drove in five runs and stole a base in a 12-5 win over the White Sox on Friday.

      Advice: The Brew Crew were able to pick up 23 hits and six walks against the overmatched White Sox. Yelich was responsible for nearly a quarter of those, and two of them were double, giving him six on the season. The steal was the eighth, and Yelich continues to impress when on the field in 2024 with a .325/.406/.564 slash. It’s fun to see a the MVP version of Yelich thus far.       Iglesias allowed a run in the ninth inning while picking up a save against Oakland on Friday.

      Advice: Iglesias notched his 14th save of the year with a fascinating outing. He gave up a leadoff double to Zack Gelof before recording three outs on three consecutive pitches. Gelof would come in to score after two straight groundouts but Atlanta secured the 4-2 win. Iglesias has converted six straight save chances and owns a 2.53 ERA through 21.1 innings.       Varsho was unavailable for Friday's game against the Pirates due to food poisoning, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

      Advice: Varsho's absence Friday shielded him from facing left-hander Bailey Falter, but the Blue Jays have now revealed they held the 27-year-old out due to illness rather than an unfavorable matchup.
