    • Yariel Rodríguez goes two innings Friday at AAA
Yariel Rodríguez (back) allowed one run over two innings on Friday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: Rodríguez allowed two hits, issued one walk and also notched one strikeout, needing 43 pitches (25 strikes) to complete two frames. The 27-year-old righty has made a couple rehab appearances so far as he works his way back to Toronto and figures to operate in a multi-inning relief role upon returning. • Hammered by Mets
Montgomery (3-3) yielded eight runs (six earned) on nine hits and three walks over four innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Mets.

Advice: Montgomery had a 3-0 lead before taking the mound Friday but quickly squandered it by coughing up four runs in the bottom of the first inning. He allowed another run in the second and three more in the fourth. After producing a pair of quality starts in his first two outings with Arizona, Montgomery has registered a rough 6.61 ERA over his last six starts. He now owns a 5.48 ERA with a lackluster 28:15 K:BB through 44.1 innings. Montgomery's next start is lined up to be at home against the Giants. Rotowire.com Today, 4:42 am
    • Bryan Woo (arm) likely to make next start vs. A’s
Mariners manager Scott Servais said late Friday that Bryan Woo (arm) is expected to make his next start.

Advice: Servais told reporters Woo was lifted after just 66 pitches since he’s been dealing with some “arm-stuff” and didn’t throw his usual between-starts bullpen session earlier this week. No word on the specific issue Woo is dealing with, but it doesn’t sound serious. It appears likely Seattle is merely exercising some caution with the 24-year-old righty, who has been phenomenal when healthy this season, but there’s zero indication that he’ll miss his next start on Thursday against the Athletics. He should benefit from an extra day of rest before taking the ball again. Rotoworld Today, 4:31 am

    • Royals option Daniel Lynch IV to Triple-A
Royals optioned LHP Daniel Lynch IV to Triple-A Omaha.

Advice: Lynch surrendered three runs (two earned) over five innings on Thursday in an emergency spot start in place of Brady Singer, who was unavailable due to illness. The 27-year-old lefty will head back to the minors until another opportunity opens up. Rotoworld Today, 4:19 am
    • Pablo López strong for seven in beating Astros
Pablo López pitched seven innings of one-run ball Friday as the Twins downed the Astros 6-1.

Advice: López generated 17 missed swings tonight, 12 of them with his fastball. His peripherals would suggest that he’s had pretty awful luck this season, but he was in close to peak form tonight. The one run he allowed came on an Alex Bregman 348-foot homer that Statcast said was only a homer in four ballparks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:40 pm
    • Ronal Blanco takes first loss of 2024
Ronel Blanco took his first loss Friday after giving up four runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Twins.

Advice: Blanco walked three and gave up a two-run homer to Trevor Larnach. Apart from the time he was ejected for his sticky stuff, this is the first time this year that Blanco has failed to complete five innings. He’s still playable in mixed leagues for now, particularly since he’s about to face the Royals and White Sox in two starts next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:40 pm

    • Allows four runs in no-decision
Soriano allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over six innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Soriano left the game in line for the loss, but Jo Adell's grand slam off the bench spared the right-hander from a second straight defeat. Soriano has allowed four runs in five of his outings this year, including three of his last five starts. He's at a 3.86 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 52:25 K:BB over 58.1 innings across 12 appearances (10 starts) on the season. The 25-year-old is projected to make his next start at home versus the Padres. • Sharp in no-decision
Woo allowed three hits and struck out two without walking a batter over six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Friday.

Advice: Woo needed just 66 pitches (47 strikes) to complete six frames, but that was all for his start. Trent Thornton and Taylor Saucedo combined to allow four runs in the seventh inning, wiping out the Mariners' lead and Woo's chance to earn his third win of the year, but this was still a stellar outing for the 24-year-old. He's now at a 1.30 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and 28:2 K:BB over 27.2 innings across five starts. The Mariners continue to manage his pitch count, but he's completed six innings in each of his last three starts thanks to his efficiency. Woo is projected for a road start in Oakland next week. • Pitches well versus Giants
Stroman (5-2) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two over 7.1 innings to earn the win over the Giants on Friday.

Advice: Stroman has pitched into the eighth inning in two of his last four starts, allowing just three runs over 26.2 innings in that span. During his hot stretch, he's posted a 15:7 K:BB, but that's about the only weak spot in his game right now. Stroman is at a 2.73 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 55:29 K:BB over 69.1 innings across 12 starts. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which is tentatively projected to be at home versus the Twins. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:38 pm
