Joel Payamps slams door on Pirates on Wednesday
Joel Payamps slammed the door on the Pirates on Wednesday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a one-run lead and earn his fourth save of the season.
Advice: It wasn’t as easy as it could have been, as two hitters reached via error in his inning of work. Payamps was able to bear down though, getting Jared Triolo to line out and Andrew McCutchen on strikes to end it. While the Brewers are set to mix and match in the ninth inning in the absence of Devin Williams, Payamps does seem to be gaining traction in that role. Trevor Megill pitched the eighth inning on Wednesday, working a perfect frame with a strikeout.
