      Estevez earned a save against the Brewers on Monday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Estevez had little trouble protecting a two-run, ninth-inning lead, retiring the side in order on 13 pitches. The veteran reliever has turned things around after a rough middle portion of May -- he hasn't allowed a baserunner in seven straight outings, racking up six saves and a win during that span.     • Carlos Estévez perfect in seventh straight outing
      Carlos Estévez threw a scoreless ninth with a two-run lead for a save Monday against the Brewers.

      Advice: It was Estévez’s seventh consecutive perfect inning, a stretch that’s lowered his ERA from 5.06 to 3.52. He still doesn’t seem like a great bet going forward, but he certainly has it working now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:01 pm

      Fried allowed a run on four hits and three walks over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out six during the win over Detroit.

      Advice: Fried worked five scoreless frames until the Tigers finally broke through with a run in the sixth inning. He wasn't very efficient Monday, throwing 60 of 103 pitches for strikes while failing to complete six innings for the second straight outing. Fried dropped his ERA to 3.11 with a 76:27 K:BB through 84 innings. He's currently in line for a tough road matchup with the Yankees this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:18 pm
       
    • Fried allows one run in no-decision
      Max Fried allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Braves’ 2-1 victory over the Tigers on Monday.



      Advice: Fried gave up four hits, walked three and struck out six. He left the game with two on and one out in the sixth inning, but Jesse Chavez escaped the jam without further damage. It was a solid start for Fried, though the Braves couldn’t provide him with any run support while he was in the game. He continues to have a nice season as he lowered his ERA to 3.11 with the effort. The 30-year-old left-hander is set to face the Yankees on the road this weekend.

    • MRI returns clean
      Carroll will rejoin the Diamondbacks in Washington for the start of their series against the Nationals on Tuesday after he underwent an MRI on Monday that revealed no significant damage to his left side, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

      Advice: The Diamondbacks ordered up the MRI for Carroll after he experienced a "pull feeling" while making a throw in the seventh inning of Sunday's 12-5 win over the White Sox. He left the game shortly thereafter, though he was in positive spirits when describing his injury after the game. The MRI seems to have validated Carroll's optimism, and though he looks set to avoid a stint on the injured list and will rejoin the team, the Diamondbacks could still hold him out of the lineup for Tuesday's series opener if he's still dealing with some discomfort. Fantasy managers in leagues with weekly lineup decisions will likely want to keep close tabs on Carroll's status leading up to the 6:45 p.m. ET start time of Tuesday's contest.     • Corbin Carroll’s MRI comes back clean
      According to Arizona Republic’s Nick Piecoro, Corbin Carroll’s MRI came back clean and he could start on Tuesday against the Nationals.



      Advice: Carroll had an MRI on Monday morning that “did not reveal significant damage to his left side.” The 23-year-old left Sunday’s game following a “pulling feeling” the 23-year-old felt while making a throw in the seventh inning. He is now headed to Washington to be with his teammates and “it is possible he will be back in the starting lineup on Tuesday night.” Diamondbacks fans and fantasy managers can let out a sigh of relief.

    • Returns for nightcap
      Kepler (elbow) went 1-for-5 in a win over the A's in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader.

      Advice: After being hit by a pitch on the elbow Friday, Kepler was held out Saturday and for the first game of Sunday's twin bill. He was back in the lineup for Game 2, however, and appears to be in the clear moving forward. Trade rumors have followed Kepler for several seasons, but he continues to fill a prominent role against right-handed pitching for Minnesota.       Ober (6-4) allowed one run on six hits and two walks while striking out eight over 6.1 innings to earn the win over the Athletics in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader.

      Advice: Ober had his start pushed back a day after a rainout Saturday. This was his first quality start since May 12 and the first time he's completed six innings in that span. The right-hander has had a mediocre season so far with a 4.81 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 73:20 K:BB over 73 innings through 14 starts.       Eflin did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk over 5.2 innings against Atlanta. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Eflin entered the sixth inning with a four-run lead, but after retiring the first two batters in the frame, he allowed four consecutive singles and was removed one out shy of completing six full innings. The seven strikeouts marked a season high for Eflin, who had failed to record more than three strikeouts during any of his previous five starts.
