      After being stuck on five for six weeks, Jeremy Peña finally hit his sixth homer Monday in the win over the Blue Jays.

      Astros general manager Dana Brown said Justin Verlander (neck) has resumed playing catch.

      Advice: The 41-year-old has been on the injured list since the middle of June with a neck issue, and the Astros have been tight-lipped about his recovery. According to The Athletic’s Chandler Rome, “Verlander has deferred all questions to the team, which remains insistent this injury is just a neck issue,” but the team has said that he’ll need a prolonged buildup and then at least one rehab start, which means a return before the All-Star break feels unlikely.       India went 1-for-4 with a double in Sunday's 2-0 loss to St. Louis.

      Advice: India ripped a third-inning double, the eighth consecutive game with a two-bagger for the second baseman. That's a franchise record and one off the MLB record of nine, set by Toronto's Bo Bichette in 2019. The double also extended a hit streak to 12 games, during which India is batting .489 (22-for-45) with 12 doubles, a home run, six RBI, two steals and 10 additional runs scored.       Stanek (5-2) took the loss Sunday against the Twins, allowing two runs on two hits over an inning's work.

      Advice: Stanek entered in the eighth with the game tied at 3-3 after the Mariners were able to knot things up in the bottom of the seventh. He picked up a quick first out but then allowed a base knock followed by a two-run homer to Trevor Larnach, which ultimately decided the game. Sunday ended an 8.2 innings scoreless streak for Stanek, which spanned 10 games. He compiled three saves, two holds and two wins while owning an 11:1 K:BB during that period.       Castillo allowed three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out three over five innings Sunday against the Twins. He did not factor into the decision.

      Advice: The Twins struck early with a run in the first on two base hits. Castillo went on to retire 11 of the next 12 batters he faced but then ran into more trouble in the fifth, allowing a double and two more singles, which led to another pair of runs for the Twins. He was able to work his way through the inning, but his day would end there at 77 pitches. Castillo managed to not give up any free passes for the first time since May 12, though he's also failed to complete six innings in four of his last five starts. He still holds a respectable 3.87 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 103:30 K:BB in 104.2 innings and projects to take the mound again to kick off a weekend series with Toronto.       Advice: The 33-year-old worked around the ghost runner in both the 11th and 12th innings, allowing just a single baserunner on an intentional walk. Fellow reliever Jalen Beeks earned the win in the 14th inning, but Kinley remains the preferred closer despite owning an ugly 8.27 ERA on the year.       Advice: What a mess. Castillo was forced to grab a bat, and struck out looking in the fourth inning, after Seattle lost the designated hitter earlier in the contest when Mitch Haniger left the game following a hit by pitch. The 31-year-old righty was simply outdueled by Twins starter Joe Ryan, who limited the Mariners to just a pair of runs into the sixth inning before the bullpen took over and pretty much shut things down completely from there on out. He’ll bring a respectable 3.87 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 103/30 K/BB ratio across 104 2/3 innings (18 starts) into a home outing on Friday against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:31 pm
