      Gilbert allowed two runs on four hits and struck out three without walking a batter over six innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Friday.

      Advice: Gilbert had posted back-to-back starts of eight shutout innings, so this was a small step back. It was an improvement on his previous start versus the Twins, in which he allowed a season-high eight runs over four innings in Minnesota on May 9. Since that start, Gilbert has completed at least six frames in each of his last nine outings, earning eight quality starts in that span. He's at a stellar 2.72 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 102:21 K:BB over 112.1 innings across 17 outings this season. Gilbert's lined up for a tough matchup versus the Orioles in his next projected start.     • Logan Gilbert fires six strong in no-decision
      Logan Gilbert gave up two runs in six innings while not factoring into the decision against the Twins on Friday.

      Advice: Gilbert struck out three while allowing just four hits and no walks. The right-hander saw his streak of 21 scoreless innings come to an end when Carlos Correa socked a two-run homer off the right-hander to give Minnesota a 2-1 lead. Outside of that, it was another outstanding effort for the right-hander, and concludes a June that likely will see him win AL Pitcher of the Month.     • Jackson Chourio hits grand slam to lead Brewers
      Jackson Chourio hit his first career grand slam Friday to provide all of the scoring as the Brewers beat the Cubs 4-2.

      Advice: This one was pretty legit; the homer was projected at 377 feet and would have been out of 21 of the 30 ballparks. He still has just one no-doubter this year; he hit a Martín Pérez changeup 441 feet on May 15. Apart from that, his next farthest blast was 402 feet. Of course, more power is going to come in time here — Chourio is just 30 — and the fact that he has nine homers already is plenty impressive. Rotoworld Friday, 8:08 pm

      Chourio went 2-for-3 with a grand slam in Friday's win over the Cubs.

      Advice: Chourio's grand slam in the fourth inning gave the Brewers the lead and proved to be the only offense the team could produce all night. He's homered in back-to-back games, though his home run Wednesday against Texas was inside-the-park. He's knocked nine homers with 33 RBI and a .676 OPS through 72 games this season.       Kimbrel earned a save against the Rangers on Friday, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Kimbrel was called upon to protect a 2-1 lead in the ninth inning and did so with two strikeouts and a groundout. The veteran has rebounded from a blown save June 19 with two straight scoreless conversions. On the season, he is 18-for-22 in save chances with a 2.45 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 44:12 K:BB over 29.1 innings. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:05 pm
       
    • Nick Pivetta tagged for five runs by Padres
      Nick Pivetta surrendered five runs in four-plus innings Friday in a loss to the Padres.

      Advice: Pivetta pitched four scoreless innings, striking out four, before giving up four straight hits and a walk to begin the fifth. He was pulled at that point, and the Padres ended up scoring nine times in the frame. Pivetta has allowed 15 earned runs over 19 1/3 innings in his last four starts, taking his season ERA from 3.40 to 4.52. We would say he’s droppable in mixed leagues at this point, but since he faces the Marlins in Miami next time out, it’s probably worth giving him one more chance. Rotoworld Friday, 7:22 pm

      Craig Kimbrel struck out two Rangers in a clean ninth innings to earn the save for Baltimore on Friday.

      Advice: Kimbrel has been nails of late. He’s converted 11 of his last 12 save chances and allowed just one earned run since May 10th. He’s been one of the best and most surprising closers in baseball this season. Rotoworld Friday, 6:44 pm

      Luke Raley (shoulder) remains out of the Mariners’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Twins.

      Advice: Raley will miss his second straight game due to soreness in his shoulder. The good news, is that an MRI revealed no structural damage and the 29-year-old outfielder is expected to be available off the Mariners’ bench on Friday. He should be considered day-to-day.     • Eduardo Rodriguez heading for follow-up MRI
      Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) will undergo another follow-up MRI exam on July 6.

      Advice: If all goes well with that exam, it sounds like the 31-year-old southpaw will finally be cleared to resume throwing off of a mound. Once that’s done, he’ll need several sessions off the mound before facing live hitters and then several minor league rehab starts before he’s ready to join the Diamondbacks’ rotation.
