    • Drew Thorpe beats Rockies for second victory
      Drew Thorpe allowed two runs and two hits over six innings in defeating the Rockies in a 5-3 game Friday.

      Advice: Thorpe generated a lot of weak contact tonight, particularly with his slider; he threw the pitch just eight times, but the White Sox put it into play on five occasions and never any harder than 86 mph. Thorpe is 2-1 with a 4.43 ERA since debuting earlier this month. He’s an option in deeper mixed leagues, but probably not 10-teamers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:35 pm
       
    • Michael Kopech earns second save in two days
      Michael Kopech pitched a hitless ninth inning against the Rockies for his seventh save Friday.

      Advice: Kopech has saves on back-to-back days after going nearly six weeks without one. It’s good to see, but it does mean he’ll be of Saturday, perhaps creating a save opportunity for Steven Wilson. John Brebbia has also pitched back-to-back days, so he probably won’t be an option.     • Dakota Hudson gives up five runs to White Sox
      Dakota Hudson yielded five runs in five innings Friday in a loss to the White Sox.

      Advice: Pitching on the road against the White Sox is pretty much the easiest assignment Hudson is going to get as a member of the Rockies, but he messed it up by walking five and hitting a batter. He’s now 2-11 with a 5.84 ERA, and the Rockies might weigh moving on from him after the break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:35 pm
       
    • Secures 16th save
      Estevez threw a perfect ninth inning to earn a save over Detroit on Friday.

      Advice: Estevez needed only nine pitches to sit down the heart of the Tigers' lineup in order. He's up to 16 saves on the year and has converted 10 straight chances. Since blowing his last save May 10, Estevez has given up just one earned run over 14.1 innings. He's lowered his season ERA to 3.12 with an impressive 27:3 K:BB through 26 appearances.     • Bailey Ober fans nine in no-decision vs. Mariners
      Bailey Ober held the Mariners to one run with nine strikeouts in six innings in a no-decision.

      Advice: Ober wasn’t as good as he was in his complete game against Oakland, but it was another pretty strong outing. The right-hander’s only run allowed shouldn’t have happened, as Christian Vazquez couldn’t hold onto a ball that would have had Mitch Haniger out by about 15 feet if it doesn’t get by him. He’s struck out 19 hitters in his last two outings, and his ERA is now down to 4.30. He’s scheduled to square off against the Tigers next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:32 pm
       
    • Logan Gilbert fires six strong in no-decision
      Logan Gilbert gave up two runs in six innings while not factoring into the decision against the Twins on Friday.

      Advice: Gilbert struck out three while allowing just four hits and no walks. The right-hander saw his streak of 21 scoreless innings come to an end when Carlos Correa socked a two-run homer off the right-hander to give Minnesota a 2-1 lead. Outside of that, it was another outstanding effort for the right-hander, and concludes a June that likely will see him win AL Pitcher of the Month.     • No-decision against former club
      Stroman came away with a no-decision in Friday's 16-5 rout of the Blue Jays, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three.

      Advice: The veteran right-hander made his big-league with the Jays in 2014 and had trouble keeping his composure in his return to Toronto, getting the hook after 88 pitches (52 strikes) and not sticking around long enough to benefit from a season-best offensive explosion by the Yankees. Stroman completed six innings only once in five June starts, but on the year he still sports a 3.29 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 70:43 K:BB through 95.2 innings.       Plesac yielded two runs on a hit and four walks over 2.2 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out three during the win over Detroit.

      Advice: Plesac retired eight straight batters to begin the game before unraveling in the third inning. With two outs in the frame, he put five straight runners on base and walked in a pair of runs. He posted a quality start in his season debut but has been tagged with eight runs in six frames over his last two outings, shooting his season ERA up to 8.25.     • Josiah Gray (elbow) to make another rehab start
      Josiah Gray (elbow) will make another minor league rehab start at Triple-A Rochester on Sunday before rejoining the Nationals’ rotation.

      Advice: The expectation had been that Gray would return for his next start after hurling six innings of one-run ball at Triple-A Rochester his last time out. The Nationals want to make sure he’s ready to go when he does return though, so one final tune-up in the minors it will be. It’s not clear who will get bumped from the Nationals’ rotation to accommodate his return, though DJ Herz is one option, or Patrick Corbin could get shifted to the bullpen.
