      Diaz gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his sixth save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Padres.

      Advice: A leadoff single by Jurickson Profar and a stolen base by pinch runner Jose Azocar created another nervous ninth for the Mets, but Diaz buckled down after that and fanned Manny Machado and Jake Cronenworth to preserve the win. Diaz's velocity appears to be all the way back -- his fastest pitch Friday hit 100 mph -- and he's looked to be in just about peak form in two appearances since recovering from a shoulder impingement.       Advice: With the score tied at 3-3, Freeman drove in a run with an RBI single to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead and ultimately the victory. The 34-year-old has now driven in 42 runs, and nine of those have come in the first half of June.       Advice: Diaz was tasked with holding the 6-3 lead in the ninth inning Friday and ran into some trouble. He walked in a run after an error loaded the bases and allowed what would've been the game-tying hit if not for Will Benson throwing out Jake Bauers at home. Diaz has converted eight straight saves and 15 of his 17 chances this season.       Advice: Gil struggled with command a bit Friday, though he'd manage to limit Boston to a lone fourth-inning run en route to his ninth win this season. The 26-year-old Gil allowed three runs in his last outing against the Dodgers, though he's now held opponents to one run or fewer in eight of his last nine starts. Gil's ERA is down to 2.03 with a 0.98 WHIP and 96:39 K:BB across 80 innings this year. He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Orioles in his next outing.       Edwin Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Mets to earn the save on Friday against the Padres. He struck out two and stranded a runner on third base.

      Advice: Díaz and the Mets really needed this one. You could hear a pin drop in Citi Field when Jurickson Profar led off the inning with a single, but Díaz was able to work around it for his first save in 39 days.
