• Records three hits on Opening Day
Fry went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI in Thursday's 8-0 Opening Day win over Oakland.

Advice: Fry got the start at DH and batted fifth in the order following a strong spring during which he hit .295 with a pair of homers and eight RBI. The 28-year-old scored Cleveland's first run of the campaign in the second inning Thursday, coming around to score on a Tyler Freeman double following his own one-out two-bagger. In addition to his three hits, Fry added a sacrifice fly in the ninth frame to cap the scoring in the contest. It will take much more than one game for him to gain viability in mixed fantasy leagues, though the fact that Fry holds catcher eligibility and may log occasional time at DH in addition to being able to play the infield and outfield gives him some intrigue, especially in two-catcher formats. • Reaches thrice, homers
Biggio went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's win over Tampa Bay.

Advice: Biggio was excellent from the nine-slot Thursday, picking up his first long ball of the campaign in just his second at-bat. The 29-year-old has hit better than .235 just once in his five-year career and has seen fewer than 340 plate appearances in four straight campaigns, but he could have the opportunity to exceed both of those marks in 2024 if Thursday is any indication. • Lone producer in Opening Day loss
Diaz went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI during Thursday's 8-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Diaz accounted for both of the Rays runs scored, going yard off Jose Berrios to lead off the first inning and driving in Rene Pinto on a sixth-inning double. After slashing .330/.410/.522 with a career-high 22 homers in 600 plate appearances during 2023, Diaz is well on his way to repeating -- if not exceeding -- those numbers in 2024. • David Fry picks up three hits in blowout
David Fry went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in a rout of the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Fry drove in his run in the ninth with a sacrifice fly in the ninth that cemented a strong showing for the 28-year-old catcher. While he normally is behind the plate, the right-handed hitting backstop was the DH for the opener with Alex Wood on the mound, and he was one of several Cleveland hitters able to have a quality evening against an ineffective Alex Wood. Fry’s ability to hit lefties is intriguing, but he should remain off the fantasy radar for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:42 pm

  • Drives in four
Santander went 1-for-4 with a home run and four RBI on Thursday against the Angels.

Advice: Santander drove in Baltimore's first run of the season on a fielder's choice in the first inning. However, he did his biggest damage three frames later, when he took Jose Suarez yard for a two-run homer -- his first of the season. Santander has hit at least 28 home runs in each of the last two campaigns and should remain an excellent source of counting stats in 2024. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:39 pm
  • Opens in outfield
Steer started in left field and went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 8-2 win over the Nationals on Opening Day.

Advice: Steer was part of a productive lower-half of the order, which combined to go 8-for-19 and was responsible for all eight runs and RBI. He qualifies at multiple positions, but the offseason plan was to use him primarily in the outfield. Steer led the team in home runs (23) and RBI (86) last season while stealing a fantasy-helpful 15 bases. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:27 pm

  • Heads to IL
The Rangers placed Lowe (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: Lowe will be eligible to come off the IL ahead of the Rangers' April 5 game against the Astros, but the team is expecting him to be ready to return from his right oblique strain around mid-to-late April, per MLB.com. Jared Walsh and Ezequiel Duran are expected to form a platoon at first base to begin the season until Lowe is ready to return. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:00 pm
  • Launches first homer
Freeman went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and an additional RBI in Thursday's 7-1 win over St. Louis.

Advice: Freeman got the scoring started Thursday with an RBI single in the first inning before cranking a two-run homer off Miles Mikolas in the third. The 34-year-old Freeman is coming off a stellar 2023 campaign where he slashed .331/.410/.567 with 29 home runs and 102 RBI. He has a chance to be even more productive this year, batting in the third spot behind Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani in a star-studded Dodgers lineup. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:57 pm
  • Homer, three hits in loss
Goldschmidt went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 7-1 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Goldschmidt accounted for all three of the Cardinals' hits Thursday, including a fourth-inning homer off Tyler Glasnow that stood at St. Louis' lone run in the Opening Day defeat. The veteran first baseman slashed .268/.363/.447 last season with 25 home runs and 80 RBI. The Cardinals are counting on Goldschmidt to provide a similar offensive presence in the middle of their order this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:47 pm
