• May resume baseball activities soon
The Tigers announced Tuesday that Leonard (oblique) will be re-evaluated next week and could begin a baseball progression program, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Leonard, who is a member of the Tigers' 40-man roster, was placed on Triple-A Toledo's 7-day injured list April 9 after straining his left oblique. He's been able to complete daily rehab since being shut down with the injury, but Leonard has yet to get back on the field for hitting, fielding and running. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago
  • Returns to lineup as No. 2 hitter
Alexander (hamstring) will start at shortstop and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Alexander didn't play in either of Arizona's last two contests after leaving Sunday's 5-3 win over the Giants with right hamstring cramping, but he'll be back in action for the series finale in St. Louis. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo will tinker with his lineup and move Alexander up to the two hole after the rookie had batted no higher than sixth in any of his previous 13 starts. • Leaves yard Tuesday
Henderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Henderson plated his first run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly and later sent one out to right field in the seventh to bring the Orioles within three runs. He's been seeing the ball extremely well over the first month and is slashing .405/.452/.811 with four homers, eight RBI and eight runs over his last nine games. He's now in a four-way tie for third in baseball with seven home runs in the early going. Rotowire.com Today, 6:52 am
  • Productive at plate
Neto went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Neto now has two hits in back-to-back games and has notched an extra-base hit in both games as well. Prior to this mini outburst, Neto was slashing .167/.241/.208 with just three doubles, six RBI, four runs and a 6:25 BB:K in 78 plate appearances. He's now raised his average to .205 as he looks to continue to pick up steam at the plate. Rotowire.com Today, 6:23 am

  • Swats first home run
Newman went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 14-1 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Newman launched his first home run of the season as part of Arizona's six-run fifth inning. He made a second consecutive start at shortstop while Blaze Alexander tended to a hamstring injury that the Diamondbacks do not consider serious. Newman is batting .189 over 12 games. • Three hits in win
Witt went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base during Tuesday's 3-2 win over Toronto.

Advice: Witt's fifth-inning double proved to be the difference-maker in Tuesday's contest, plating two runs to give the Royals a 3-2 lead they would hold for the rest of the game. The 23-year-old shortstop remains one of baseball's top young stars with a .316/.362/.582 slash line through 105 plate appearances, and he's now logged a base hit in each of his last four games. • Weeks away from rehab assignment
Peraza (shoulder) has been hitting at the Yankees' complex in Tampa while continuing to progress through his throwing program, but manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that the infielder remains weeks away from playing in minor-league games, per MLB.com.

Advice: Peraza's shoulder issue first cropped up Feb. 25 and was followed by renewed soreness after he attempted to return to Grapefruit League play March 5. He has been throwing regularly since the first week of April, so the team appears to be giving the 23-year-old ample time to fully recover. Peraza is one of three Yankees third basemen currently on the injured list, as DJ LeMahieu (foot) was pulled early from a minor-league rehab start Tuesday while Jon Berti (groin) has yet to begin a rehab assignment. • Taking grounders
Marcano (knee) has been taking groundballs as he begins to ramp up his baseball activities, per MLB.com.

Advice: Marcano continues to rehab from the ACL surgery he underwent in August of last year. The 24-year-old was placed on the 10-day IL on March 19, so he'll be eligible to return as soon as he's physically ready to do so. Given that Marcano didn't see any spring training action, he'll likely require an extended rehab assignment in the minors before the Padres consider promoting him to the big-league roster. • Zack Neto collects two hits, two RBI in victory
Zach Neto finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI as the Angels topped the Orioles 7-4 on Tuesday.

Advice: Neto has two hits in back-to-back games, raising his average from .167 to .205. He should continue to improve from here, and while he’s not currently a mixed-league option as the Angels’ No. 9 hitter, it’s quite possible he’ll prove useful later this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:42 pm
