• Josh Rojas clubs solo homer as M’s defeat Reds
Josh Rojas came off the bench and swatted a solo home run on Wednesday, helping to power the Mariners past the visiting Reds.

Advice: Rojas entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Luis Urias in the seventh inning and blasted a 362-foot (103.9 mph EV) solo shot off of Lucas Sims that increased the Mariners’ advantage to 3-1. He finished the day 1-for-2. While Urias — the short-side of the platoon at third base — has struggled mightily at the dish in the early going, Rojas is now slashing an impressive .343/.410/.486 with a homer and four RBI in his first 39 plate appearances. He might be a decent deep league streaming option with a series against the Rockies at Coors Field coming up over the weekend. Rotoworld Today, 4:36 pm

  • Elly De La Cruz homers again in loss to D’Backs
Elly De La Cruz clobbered his fifth home run of the season on Wednesday, accounting for the entirety of the Reds’ offense in a loss to the Mariners.

Advice: The dynamic 22-year-old victimized Mariners’ right-hander Bryce Miller for his 391-foot (103.8 mph EV) solo shot in the second inning to give the Reds an early 1-0 advantage. It would be short-lived. De La Cruz struck out in each of his other two plate appearances on the day, finishing the afternoon 1-for-3. For the season, the budding superstar is now hitting .277/.356/.600 to go along with five homers, 11 RBI and seven stolen bases through his first 18 games. Rotoworld Today, 4:18 pm

  • Rewarded with fifth straight start
Arias will start in center field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: After making just four starts in the Guardians' first 13 games, Arias now finds himself in the lineup for a fifth straight contest. Though he doesn't have a direct path to a starting role at any one spot while the Guardians are seemingly committed to Brayan Rocchio as their primary shortstop, Arias has made it tough for manager Stephen Vogt to take him out of the lineup while he's wielding a hot bat. Over his last four games, Arias has gone 8-for-16 with five extra-base hits (three doubles, one triple and one home run) and one walk. Rotowire.com Today, 2:46 pm

  • Resting Wednesday
Freeman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Freeman started each of the past three games in center field while going 2-for-10 with a home run and a double across those contests. He'll give way to Gabriel Arias on Wednesday. Rotowire.com Today, 2:36 pm

  • Josh Smith’s pinch-hit double leads Rangers
Pinch-hitter Josh Smith doubled in Ezequiel Duran in the top of the ninth as the Rangers edged the Tigers 5-4 on Wednesday.

Advice: Davis Wendzel got the nod over Smith at third base against a lefty today, but after going 0-for-3 — leaving him 0-for-8 to start his big-league career — the Rangers turned to Smith a chance in the ninth and he took advantage of it with a double to the gap off Shelby Miller. Smith is batting .319/.418/.404 in 55 at-bats (raising his career average from .191 to .204), and he’ll continue to get plenty of time at third while Josh Jung is out. Rotoworld Today, 2:24 pm

  • Gets breather for Game 2
Garcia isn't in the Royals' lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the White Sox, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Garcia turned in an 0-for-4 performance during Wednesday's early game, so he'll remain in the dugout for the nightcap. Nick Loftin will fill in at the hot corner and bat sixth. Rotowire.com Today, 2:13 pm

  • In Wednesday's lineup at DH
Manager Alex Cora said Devers (knee) will serve as the Red Sox's designated hitter in Wednesday's contest versus the Guardians, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Devers was removed from Tuesday's 10-7 loss to Cleveland due to left knee soreness, but he's feeling better than expected a day later and will be available Wednesday in a non-defensive role. He should be ready to return to third base in a day or two. Rotowire.com Today, 2:07 pm

  • Rafael Devers (knee) serving as DH on Wednesday
Rafael Devers (knee) returned to the Red Sox’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s battle against the Guardians.

Advice: The 27-year-old superstar was pulled from Tuesday’s game due to left knee discomfort, but it appears to have been only a minor issue. On the season, Devers is hitting .205/.352/.409 with a pair of homers and five RBI through his first 54 plate appearances across 12 games. Rotoworld Today, 2:05 pm

  • Shifts to 60-day IL
The Guardians transferred Martinez (foot) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday due to a fractured hamate bone in his left hand, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Martinez opened the season on the IL with what the Guardians listed as a right foot contusion, but he appears to have been diagnosed with the broken hand upon being lifted early in his third rehab game with Triple-A Columbus this past Saturday. As a result of the move to the 60-day IL, Martinez won't be eligible for activation until late May. Martinez has two minor-league options remaining and is likely to be assigned to Columbus once he completes a rehab assignment and is ready for activation. Rotowire.com Today, 1:52 pm
