      Advice: Mullins has seen his playing time dip amid his prolonged struggles at the plate. He's gone just 9-for-73 (.123) with a 3:24 BB:K over 26 contests since the start of May, though he has managed to pick up six steals in that span despite his troubles getting on base. Mullins is slashing a meager .178/.225/.314 with 12 steals, six home runs, 22 RBI and 23 runs scored over 182 plate appearances this year. Austin Hays and Colton Cowser have been the main players to benefit from Mullins' decreased playing time, and the Orioles aren't short on prospects to call up if they choose to mix up the composition of outfielders on their roster.       Advice: This was Arenado's third homer in his last seven games, doubling his total to six long balls on the year. He's gone 6-for-28 (.214) in that seven-game span as he continues to try and put it all together this season. The veteran third baseman is at a .252/.306/.376 slash line with 28 RBI, 23 runs scored, 10 doubles and no stolen bases through 58 contests in 2024, numbers far too similar to the down year he posted in the abbreviated 2020 campaign.     • Cedric Mullins lines out twice in loss
      Making his first start in three days, Cedric Mullins went 0-for-3 with a walk Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

      Advice: That sounds bad, but it was actually a really encouraging night for Mullins. Aside from his strikeout, his two at-bats produced liners up the middle at 103 and 97 mph. Unfortunately, those balls were hit right at the shortstop and center fielder, respectively, but in the grand scheme of things, that doesn’t matter much.     • Cleared to start Saturday
      Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Wednesday that Suarez (thumb) has been cleared to start Saturday's game against the Mets in London, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. "I think so," Thomson said ,when asked if Suarez would make his next scheduled start. "It looks like it. I believe we can line him up."

      Advice: Suarez didn't throw a bullpen session Wednesday like Thomson intimated would be the case Tuesday, but the southpaw played catch for the second day in a row and appears to be feeling fine. He'll throw a light bullpen session Friday, but the Phillies are seemingly already banking on Suarez being available without restriction for the first of two games in London, with Taijuan Walker set to take the hill for the Sunday contest. Suarez was removed from his most recent start this past Saturday against the Cardinals after taking a comebacker to his left thumb.     • Jordan Montgomery’s struggles continue vs. Giants
      Jordan Montgomery was torched for six runs over two innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Giants.

      Advice: Montgomery kicked off the contest with a pair of scoreless frames before coming completely unraveled in a calamitous third inning when San Francisco struck for six runs on six hits, including a pair of homers. He finished with two strikeouts and also issued one walk. The 31-year-old lefty has been hit extremely hard in his Arizona debut so far, allowing six earned runs in back-to-back outings and three of his nine starts so far since April 19. He’ll bring a bloated 6.80 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 29/18 K/BB ratio across 46 1/3 innings (nine starts).       Montgomery (3-4) took the loss Wednesday, coughing up six runs on seven hits and three walks over two-plus innings as Arizona fell 9-3 to San Francisco. He struck out one.

      Advice: The southpaw held the Giants off the board for two innings, but things fell apart quickly in the third, highlighted by Wilmer Flores' grand slam -- the first slam Montgomery has ever served up in his career. The 31-year-old has been tagged for 14 runs in only six innings over his last two starts, and he'll carry a 6.80 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 29:18 K:BB through 46.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Angels.       Francisco Lindor went 2-for-5 with a homer and a pair of runs scored on Wednesday as the Mets routed the Nationals in Washington.

      Advice: The dynamic 30-year-old shortstop went back-to-back with Luis Torrens off of Patrick Corbin in the sixth inning, with his 428-foot (109.3 mph EV) bomb increasing the Mets’ lead to 4-0. He also led off the seventh inning with a single and scored as J.D. Martinez bounced into a double play.       Nolan Arenado slugged a solo homer on Wednesday, lifting the Cardinals to a 4-2 victory over the Astros.

      Advice: Arenado supplied a key insurance run for the Cardinals’ bullpen with a sixth-inning solo shot off Astros starter Ronel Blanco. It was his sixth round-tripper of the season and third time he’s gone deep in his last seven contests since May 28. The 33-year-old remains stuck in one of the most challenging extended power outages of his career, but he’s shown a bit of a spark lately, and might finally be turning things around. We’ll see.
