    • Astros active Chas McCormick (hamstring) off IL
Astros activated OF Chas McCormick off the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Trey Cabbage was optioned to Triple-A in the corresponding transaction. McCormick missed three weeks with his right hamstring strain. The outfielder should get a chance to play, but Houston does have a bit of an outfield jam with Joey Loperfido and Jake Meyers also likely to see time for Houston. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago

    • Goes yard in win
Smith went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Smith hadn't homered since May 1, going 8-for-43 (.186) with two doubles and six RBI over the 13 games between long balls. That's a rare cold spell for the catcher, who is slashing .308/.381/.481 with five homers, 31 RBI, 26 runs scored and 12 doubles over 181 plate appearances. With Shohei Ohtani occupying the designated hitter spot, Smith has received routine days off this year, though he's still the primary catcher over backup Austin Barnes. • Back in closer role Monday
Suarez picked up a save against Atlanta in the first game of a doubleheader Monday, retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.

Advice: For most of the contest it seemed unlikely that Suarez would be deployed, as Atlanta got out to an early lead and was ahead 5-0 through four innings. However, San Diego fought back and took a one-run lead in the eighth, giving Suarez a chance to close things out in the ninth. He did so easily, needing just seven pitches to set down the side in order. Suarez had been used in the eighth inning to face the heart of Atlanta's order his previous time on the mound, but there's little doubt that he's San Diego's primary closer. The right-hander has registered a minuscule 0.44 ERA and 0.64 WHIP along with an 18:4 K:BB while racking up 13 saves in 13 chances on the season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:01 pm
    • Xander Bogaerts out with shoulder inflammation
The Padres are calling Xander Bogaerts’ injury left shoulder inflammation.

Advice: It’s an odd diagnosis, being that this was a sudden injury sustained while diving for a ball, but it’s what we’re left with after the Padres couldn’t initially find anything serious going on within the shoulder. He obviously was not included in the lineup for the second game of today’s doubleheader. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:16 pm

    • Won't be activated Monday
Astros manager Joe Espada said that McCormick (hamstring) will not be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Monday's game versus the Angels, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: However, McCormick is with the Astros at Minute Maid Park and will go through a pregame workout. His activation will come "soon," per Espada, with Tuesday seeming like a distinct possibility. McCormick has been out for all of May with a right hamstring injury. • Robert Suarez now 13-for-13 saving games
Robert Suarez pitched a perfect ninth with a one-run lead for a save against the Braves in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader.

Advice: It’s Suarez’s 16th straight scoreless appearances. He had been stuck on 12 saves for the last 12 days, but even so, he’s tied for first in the majors in that category. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:38 pm
    • Initial tests good on Xander Bogaerts’ shoulder
The Padres said that the initial imaging on Xander Bogaerts’ shoulder came back negative.

Advice: Hopefully, this will prove to be a day-to-day situation. We might know more later today. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:17 pm

    • Initial imaging returns negative
Bogaerts had preliminary imaging on his left shoulder come back negative Monday, though the Padres are awaiting additional test results, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: The veteran infielder exited Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader after he suffered the injury while making a diving stop at second base. Bogaerts likely won't be available for Monday's nightcap, but he should be considered day-to-day until more information is available. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:44 pm

    • Returns to lineup Monday
Martinez (illness) will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Monday's game in Cleveland.

Advice: Martinez sat out Sunday's contest due to flu-like symptoms but is feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. The veteran DH has slashed .315/.359/.466 with two home runs in 21 games to begin his tenure with the Mets. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:35 pm
