    • Freddie Freeman scalds RBI double in Dodgers’ win
Freddie Freeman went 2-for-3 with an RBI double on Thursday, lifting the Dodgers to a 2-1 victory over the Nationals.

Advice: Freeman has flown a bit under the radar with Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani justifiably stealing the early-season spotlight. However, his latest multi-hit performance puts his batting average back above the .300 mark for the first time this season. The 34-year-old fantasy stalwart has shown zero signs of slowing down at this stage of his career and remains an elite four-category contributor also capable of chipping in the occasional stolen base. • Max Scherzer (back) will make another rehab start
Max Scherzer (back) will make his next minor league rehab start on Tuesday for Double-A Frisco.

Advice: Scherzer threw 52 pitches (32 strikes) and allowed three runs over 2 1/3 innings on Wednesday in his first rehab outing for Triple-A Round Rock. It doesn’t come as a total shock that the 39-year-old veteran looked a bit shaky in his first start since offseason back surgery, and he’ll get at least one additional rehab tune-up prior to returning to the Rangers’ starting rotation mix in early May. • Next rehab outing set for Tuesday
Scherzer (back) is scheduled to make his next rehab start Tuesday with Double-A Frisco, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Scherzer will look to push up his pitch count in his second rehab outing after he struck out four over 2.1 innings (52 pitches) while allowing three earned runs on five hits and no walks in his 2024 debut Wednesday with Triple-A Round Rock. Since Scherzer missed all of spring training while completing his recovery from Dec. 15 surgery to address a herniated disc in his back, he could require an additional rehab start after Tuesday to get fully stretched out. The right-hander looks on track to return from the 15-day injured list to make his season debut for the Rangers in early May. Rotowire.com Today, 10:34 am

    • Cleared for DH duties Thursday
Seager (shin) will serve as the Rangers' designated hitter and No. 2 batter in Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Seager was removed late in Wednesday's 5-1 win over Seattle after getting hit by a pitch in the seventh inning. According to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, manager Bruce Bochy said after the contest that Seager's left shin "swelled up pretty good," but the 29-year-old evidently feels good enough Thursday to give it a go, albeit in a non-defensive role. Josh Smith will take over Seager's usual duties at shortstop. Rotowire.com Today, 8:45 am

    • Corey Seager in lineup against Seattle on Thurs.
Corey Seager (shin) is in the Rangers’ starting lineup as a designated hitter against the Mariners on Thursday.

Advice: Good news. Seager was hit in the shin by a pitch on Wednesday and was diagnosed with a contusion, but it appears that won’t stop the 29-year-old from getting back on the diamond. The team is taking somewhat of a precaution by placing him as a designated hitter, but for fantasy purposes, managers can breathe easy for the time being. Rotoworld Today, 8:45 am

    • Tosses 52 pitches on rehab
Scherzer (back) allowed three runs on five hits while striking out four over 2.1 innings in a rehab appearance for Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

Advice: Scherzer kicked off a rehab assignment Wednesday, giving up a pair of home runs while running his pitch count to 52, including 11 swinging strikes. That's in line with his progression after throwing 40 in his most recent live batting practice session. Scherzer's velocity was down across the board, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, but that is to be expected from the right-hander, who is working his way back from offseason back surgery. • Corey Seager diagnosed with left shin contusion
The Rangers announced that Corey Seager left Wednesday’s game with a left shin contusion.

Advice: Fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief now. Seager was drilled in the shin by a pitch during the seventh inning of Wednesday’s battle against the Mariners, but it sounds like he was fortunate to avoid any structural damage. He’ll be sore for a couple of days, but it shouldn’t be anything that will keep Seager out of the Rangers’ lineup for long. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:53 pm

    • Exits with bruised shin
Seager was removed from Wednesday's game against the Mariners due to a left shin contusion, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Seager remained in the game to run the bases after taking a pitch off his shin in the seventh inning, but he was replaced on defense prior to the eighth. His ability to remain in the game immediately after getting hit suggests his injury is relatively minor, though it's still possible the Rangers sit him down for Thursday's series finale. The 29-year-old infielder went 0-for-2 with a walk before being pulled Wednesday and is now slashing .192/.276/.192 across his last seven games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:50 pm

    • Corey Seager leaves game after hit by pitch (shin)
Corey Seager was pulled from Wednesday’s contest against the Mariners after being hit on the shin by a pitch during the seventh inning.

Advice: The superstar shortstop remained in the game initially to run the bases for himself but was ultimately lifted when the Rangers took the field. It’s likely that he’ll undergo some precautionary X-rays to rule out any fractures. Hopefully it’s just a bruise and he’ll be considered day-to-day. Expect Rangers’ skipper Bruce Bochy to provide an update as soon as more information is available. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:47 pm
