    • Gavin Williams shut down with elbow discomfort
Gavin Williams (elbow) has been shut down from throwing for at least one week after experiencing renewed discomfort.

Advice: Not good. Williams has been on the shelf since spring training due to right elbow inflammation and appeared to be getting close to making his season debut prior to this latest setback. The 24-year-old top pitching prospect should be ready to resume throwing next week after receiving a PRP injection. However, there is no official timetable for his return at this juncture. • Luis Castillo hurls six strong in victory over TEX
Luis Castillo struck out six while throwing six innings of two-run baseball to pick up a win over the Rangers on Thursday.

Advice: Castillo gave up four hits, and he walked two. There some traffic against the 31-year-old early, but he was able to keep runners at bay in another strong outing. Both runs came on solo blasts; one in the first by Nathaniel Lowe and another in the fourth by Josh Smith. After struggling in his first three starts, Castillo has allowed four earned runs total in his last three outings, and looks like the pitcher that fantasy managers were hoping to see. He’ll hope to keep it going against Atlanta next week. Rotoworld Today, 1:59 pm

    • Sits against lefty
Lux is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: With the Dodgers and Nationals concluding their series with a day game after a night game and with southpaw MacKenzie Gore on the bump for Washington, Lux is one of three lefty-hitting regulars who will get the afternoon off. Lux will be joined on the bench by Max Muncy and James Outman. Rotowire.com Today, 10:55 am

    • Will make rehab start
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Pivetta (elbow) will make at least one rehab start before rejoining the rotation, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: The initial hope was that Pivetta could return from a right elbow flexor strain following a minimum stint on the injured list. That hasn't happened, as he's already missed more than 15 days. However, the right-hander has resumed throwing off a mound and could be sent out on a rehab assignment soon. A return in early May for Pivetta looks doable. Rotowire.com Today, 8:40 am

    • Swipes two bags
Garcia went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases during Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Garcia collected his fifth and sixth stolen bases of the season for his second multi-steal game of 2024. He plated Kyle Isbel in the second inning on a single and notched another single in the fifth. Garcia is batting .368 with four runs scored and four RBI in his last five games. • Maikel Garcia swipes two bases against Blue Jays
Maikel Garcia went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of steals on Wednesday in a 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Garcia is warming up at the plate after falling into a slump with his third multi-hit game in his last five contests. He knocked a base hit in the second inning to drive in a run before stealing second. He added another base hit in the fifth and stole third for his second steal of the game. The 24-year-old third baseman is slashing .206/.255/.381 with four homers, 16 RBI, and six steals across 106 plate appearances. His batting average should continue to rise as he’s posting an excellent hard-hit rate and making plenty of contact. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:35 pm

    • Shohei Ohtani raises average to .371 in blowout
Shohei Ohtani went 3-for-6 with a pair of RBI on Wednesday in the Dodgers’ blowout win over the Nationals.

Advice: We’re running out of superlatives to describe Ohtani’s exploits. He doubled three times in the one-sided affair, including a pair of runs-scoring knocks in the eighth and ninth innings, respectively, to raise his batting average to an astronomical .371 (39-for-105) in the process. The 29-year-old two-way fantasy superstar has put together an unbelievable Dodgers debut so far with a 1.128 OPS to go along with 22 runs scored, six homers, 16 RBI and five steals through 26 games. • Two-run double in win
Nootbaar went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Wednesday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Nootbaar doubled in his final at-bat of the contest to send home Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt, giving the Cardinals a 4-1 lead. It was the left fielder's fourth extra-base. of the season, and he's now driven in two runs in two of his last three games. Nootbaar has also hit safely in six of his last seven contests. • Mike Trout first to reach 10 homers this season
Mike Trout became the first major leaguer to reach 10 homers this season when he took the Orioles’ Dean Kremer deep on Wednesday.

Advice: Trout’s 10th homer came in his 25th game. He still has just 13 RBI, since he’s not hitting singles (.237 average) and he’s especially not hitting with men on base. Things don’t figure to get much better there if the Angels leave him in the leadoff spot. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:17 pm
