    • Manny Machado (hip) rejoins Padres lineup as DH
Manny Machado is in the lineup as a DH for Monday’s game against the A’s.

Advice: Machado missed four starts after hurting his hip Wednesday. He’s batting fifth tonight, with Jurickson Profar remaining in the third spot. Machado has moved around the middle of the Padres lineup some this season, but he did hit third in the three games preceding his injury. Rotoworld Today, 2:45 pm

    • Getting Monday night off
Pasquantino is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: Kansas City will lean on a right-handed-heavy lineup to counter Yankees southpaw Carlos Rodon, so Pasquantino and fellow lefty-hitting regulars MJ Melendez and Kyle Isbel will hit the bench for the series opener. Pasquantino had started in each of the Royals' previous nine contests, recording at least one hit in eight of those contests while slashing .333/.357/.667 with two home runs and 10 RBI during that stretch. • Returning to lineup Monday
Padres manager Mike Shildt said in an interview on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that Machado (hip) will be back in the lineup Monday versus the Athletics as the team's designated hitter.

Advice: Machado was held out of the lineup for the previous four games due to a strained right hip flexor, although he was able to pinch hit a couple times over that stretch. He will be eased back into the mix Monday as the club's DH, with a return to third base coming "hopefully sooner than later," per Shildt. Rotowire.com Today, 12:04 pm

    • Tie-breaking hit in extras Sunday
Rodriguez went 2-for-5 with an RBI single, a double and a run in an extra-inning win over the Royals on Sunday.

Advice: Rodriguez followed up his sixth double of the season with a clutch single in the 10th, snapping a 3-3 tie by driving in Josh Rojas. Rodriguez still has plenty of ground to make up in terms of his power production, but he's now hit safely in 14 of the last 15 games while producing a .328 average and .881 OPS across 63 plate appearances. • Plates three runs in win
Altuve went 4-for-5 with a two-run homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Angels.

Advice: Altuve's big hit of the day came with two outs in the sixth to cap off a four-run rally that put the Astros ahead 7-4. It was his first time with four hits in a game since Sept. 4, 2023, and it was his eighth time this year with three or more hits in a game. Altuve is now tied for fourth in the majors with 80 hits on the year and is putting together another strong campaign at the dish. He's slashing .297/.348/.454 with 10 homers, 25 RBI, 39 runs and an 18:53 BB:K in 290 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 7:46 am

    • Nabs sixth win
Garrett (6-2) picked up the win in Sunday over the Phillies, getting charged with one run on one hit and one walk over 1.2 innings of relief. He struck out two.

Advice: The right-hander entered the game with two outs in the seventh inning with the Mets down 4-3, making him the pitcher of record when New York erupted for three runs in the top of the ninth. Garrett did put two runners aboard before being lifted in the bottom of the frame and watched one of them come around to score, however. He's been tagged for runs in six of his last eight appearances, stumbling to a ghastly 11.74 ERA, 2.22 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB through 7.2 innings over that stretch, but Garrett will likely remain part of the team's high-leverage crew even after Edwin Diaz (shoulder) rejoins the bullpen. • Jose Altuve belts 10th homer in loss on Sunday
Jose Altuve went 4-for-5 and belted his 10th home run of the season on Sunday, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Astros past the Angels in Los Angeles.

Advice: Altuve capped off a four-run rally in the sixth inning with his 406-foot (103.2 mph EV) two-run blast off of Hunter Strickland that extended the Astros’ lead to 7-4. That would be the extent of their scoring though. The 34-year-old second baseman also got the Astros on the board with a run-scoring single in the third inning then scored on an RBI knock by Jeremy Pena. He’s in the midst of another outstanding season at the dish — slashing .297/.348/.454 with 10 homers, 25 RBI and nine stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:54 pm

    • Absence continuing Sunday
Machado (hip) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Diamondbacks, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Machado continues to nurse a strained right hip flexor and will sit Sunday for the fourth straight game. The 31-year-old appeared as a pinch hitter in the first of those absences Thursday but otherwise hasn't seen game action since he suffered the injury Wednesday. Donovan Solano is receiving another start at the hot corner in the series finale against Arizona. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:29 am

    • Manny Machado (hip) out again Sunday
Manny Machado (hip) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s contest against the Padres.

Advice: Machado will get another day while dealing with the hip injury he suffered during Wednesday’s game against the Angels. He has been able to play as a pinch-hitter, however, and he has a chance to be available off the bench for the series finale as well. Donovan Solano is starting at third and hitting fifth in Machado’s absence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:19 am
