    • Twins outright Chris Parmelee to Triple-A
Twins sent OF Chris Parmelee outright to Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: Parmelee was designated for assignment by Minnesota earlier this month and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 26-year-old hit just .256/.307/.384 with seven homers and 28 RBI in 87 games with the Twins in 2014. Rotoworld.com

    • Brewers claim Shane Peterson off waivers
Brewers claimed OF/1B Shane Peterson off waivers from the Cubs.

Advice: Peterson has been the proverbial hot potato over the last two weeks, as he's bounced from the Athletics to the Cubs and now to the Brewers. He's a second-round pick who has flashed a decent bat in the minors, hitting .308/.381/.460 in Triple-A in 2014. While he doesn't have much major league experience, he's still just 26 and his bat should eventually offer him chances at the next level. Rotoworld.com

Padres signed 1B Brett Wallace to a minor league contract.

Advice: Wallace slashed .282/.350/.426 with 17 homers and 58 RBI at Triple-A for the Blue Jays in 2014. He's a former top prospect and should have the opportunity at spring training to try to crack the Padres' Opening Day roster. Rotoworld.com

    • Hannahan signs with LG Twins of South Korea
According to Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN, free agent INF Jack Hannahan has agreed to a $1 million contract with South Korea's LG Twins.

Advice: Hannahan could possibly have found himself a minor league deal, as the (Minnesota) Twins were reportedly somewhat interested in him in mid-December, but he instead opted to sign in South Korea. Hannahan missed most of the 2014 season after undergoing shoulder surgery. He appeared in 26 games and hit .188/.220/.250. Rotoworld.com

Phillies signed 1B Chris McGuiness to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Advice: McGuiness turns 27 in April and batted .264/.358/.412 with nine home runs and 54 RBI over 126 games this past season with the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate. He'll likely serve as organizational depth for Philadelphia in 2015. Rotoworld.com

    • Giants acquire Casey McGehee from Marlins
Giants acquired INF Casey McGehee from the Marlins for RHP Kendry Flores and RHP Luis Castillo.

Advice: The 32-year-old third baseman may seem like an underwhelming addition to replace Pablo Sandoval at the hot corner for the Giants, but if he can replicate the .287/.355/.357 that he hit in 2014 while playing solid defense, he'll win over Giants fans. Just don't expect much from a fantasy perspective, as his power was non-existent in Miami. Rotoworld.com

    • Giants to acquire Casey McGehee from Marlins
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Giants have agreed to acquire Casey McGehee from the Marlins.

Advice: No word yet on the potential return package heading to the Fish in the deal, but both Hunter Strickland and Matt Duffy had been mentioned in trade talks.. McGehee is coming off a terrific season in 2014 where he slashed .287/.355/.357 with 76 RBI in 160 games. With what is available on the market, he's perhaps the best fit both offensively and defensively for the Giants. Rotoworld.com

    • Giants talking McGehee trade with Marlins
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Giants have had trade discussions with the Marlins involving Casey McGehee.

Advice: McGehee is suddenly expendable following the addition of Martin Prado. Rosenthal says that reliever Hunter Strickland and infielder Matt Duffy are two Giants players involved in the talks. After spending 2013 in Japan, McGehee won National League Comeback Player of the Year honors in 2014, batting .287/.355/.357 with four home runs and 76 RBI over 160 games. Rotoworld.com

    • Garrett Jones lands with Yankees
Yankees acquired 1B/OF Garrett Jones from the Marlins in the Nathan Eovaldi trade.

Advice: Jones hit .246/.309/.411 with 15 homers last season as the Marlins' main first baseman. He's been pretty good versus right-handed pitching in his career (.811 OPS) and offers a bit of versatility with the ability to play first base and the corner outfield spots. Rotoworld.com

    • Pirates ink Corey Hart to one-year contract
Pirates signed 1B/OF Corey Hart to a one-year contract.

Advice: CBS Sports' Jon Heyman says Hart will receive $2.5 million and have a chance to earn $2.5 million more through incentives. Hart figures to platoon at first base with Pedro Alvarez while providing another option in a loaded Pirates outfield. The 32-year-old batted just .203/.271/.319 with six homers over 68 games in 2014 after missing the 2013 campaign with knee issues. If he proves to be healthy -- which is a big question -- Hart could be a nice gamble on a one-year deal. Rotoworld.com

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Giants "remain interested" in Chris Johnson.

Advice: They have an opening at the hot corner after losing out on the Pablo Sandoval and Chase Headley sweepstakes, but it's debatable as to how much of an upgrade Johnson would be. The 30-year-old batted just .263/.292/.361 in 2014 for Atlanta and is a career .283/.319/.419 hitter over six seasons. Rotoworld.com

    • Shane Peterson claimed by Cubs
Cubs claimed OF/1B Shane Peterson off waivers from the Athletics.

Advice: Peterson had been designated for assignment last week. The former second-round pick has limited experience in the majors but batted .308/.381/.460 this past season at Triple-A. He could be an option for the Cubs' bench. Rotoworld.com

    • Dodgers officially acquire C Yasmani Grandal
Dodgers acquired C Yasmani Grandal and RHPs Joe Wieland and Zach Eflin from the Padres in exchange for OF Matt Kemp, C Tim Federowicz and cash considerations.

Advice: Grandal came on strong at the end of last season as he further distanced himself from ACL surgery, hitting .291/.408/.519 with four homers in September. The switch-hitting catcher has plenty of upside offensively and the Dodgers are hoping he'll help offset some of the offense they'll lose by trading away Kemp. Rotoworld.com

    • Stephen Vogt has walking boot removed
Stephen Vogt had the walking boot removed from his surgically-repaired right foot Thursday.

Advice: Vogt had surgery in October to repair the plantar plates in his foot. It's an injury he dealt with throughout the second half of the season and he noted Thursday that it's the first time since July he can put a shoe on his right foot and walk without any pain. Vogt will be fine for the start of spring training. Rotoworld.com

    • BoSox in 'active' talks for Allen Craig trade
According to FOX Sports' Jon Morosi, the Red Sox are in "active" Allen Craig trade talks with at least one team.

Advice: Craig batted just .128/.234/.191 in 107 plate appearances after the July 31 trade that sent he and Joe Kelly from the Cardinals to the Red Sox for John Lackey. Craig hasn't been the same since suffering a Lisfranc foot injury late in the 2013 season and he's owed $26.5 million over the next three years. Boston probably won't be able to get much in return. • Marlins finalize contract with Michael Morse
Marlins signed 1B/OF Michael Morse to a two-year, $16 million contract.

Advice: Morse hit .279/.336/.475 with 16 homers and 61 RBI in 131 games for the Giants last season. While he is 32 years old, Morse has shown a consistent bat when he's healthy and at a cheap price, he should provide nice numbers and veteran leadership for a Marlins offense that's coming together this off-season. • Michael Morse getting $16M from Marlins
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Michael Morse will receive $16 million over two years in his contract with the Marlins.

Advice: He can also earn more in performance bonuses. Earlier reports suggested that Morse's deal was for $12 million or even $8 million, but the $16 million figure makes more sense. The former Giant figures to receive the bulk of the playing time at first base for the Marlins, though Garrett Jones should see some starts versus lefties if he's not traded. Rotoworld.com

Advice: Barton appeared in just 30 games this past season with the A's, batting just .158/.234/.175 with zero homers and five RBI. He's a former first-round pick and highly-ranking first base prospect, but the ship has probably sailed for the 29-year-old. Rotoworld.com

Advice: The Marlins are getting calls on the heels of a reported agreement with free agent Michael Morse. Jeff Wilson of the Fort-Worth Star Telegram writes that the Rangers are optimistic about re-signing Adam Rosales.

Advice: Rosales was non-tendered by the Rangers in December, but they still hope to bring him back for a lesser salary. The 31-year-old batted .262 with four home runs and a .706 OPS over 56 games this season and would function as a utility infielder if he returns. Rotoworld.com

    • Morse's deal with Marlins worth $12 million
Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that Michael Morse's two-year deal with the Marlins is in the $12 million range.

Advice: If the report is correct, that's a very reasonable price to pay for an upgrade at first base. Morse batted .279 with 16 home runs and an .811 OPS (including a 130 OPS+) this past season and should be less of a liability defensively with a move away from the oufield. The Marlins could either use him as their everyday first baseman or platoon him with Garrett Jones. Rotoworld.com

    • Chris Davis approved for adderall use
Orioles manager Buck Showalter said on 105.7 The Fan that Chris Davis has received a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) for adderall.

Advice: Davis was handed a 25-game suspension in September after a second positive test for amphetamines. He has had a TUE in the past to take adderall, but not for this year, which triggered the suspension. However, he'll be able to use the drug without penalty in 2015. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Marlins have agreed to a two-year contract with Michael Morse, pending a physical.

Advice: The financial terms aren't yet available. The Marlins have been very active this offseason and the addition of Morse further strengthens their lineup. The 32-year-old batted .279/.336/.475 with 16 homers and 61 RBI in 131 games this past season with the Giants. Advice: Morales gets $6.5 million in 2015 and $10.5 million in 2016, and he can make up to $750,000 per year in performance-based bonuses. It's a pretty nice deal for a 31-year-old designated hitter who only managed a .218/.274/.338 slash line in 98 games this past season between the Mariners and Twins. Yankees re-signed 3B Chase Headley to a four-year, $52 million contract.

Advice: Headley was said to prefer re-signing with New York all along, and that's what he wound up doing after drawing interest from the Giants, Marlins, and Astros, among others. The 30-year-old third baseman batted just .243/.328/.372 in 135 games this past season between the Padres and Yankees, but he's only 30 years old and was an MVP candidate not long ago. • Rangers reach agreement with Kyle Blanks
Rangers signed 1B Kyle Blanks to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Advice: It's a split contract, carrying different salaries for his time spent in the minors and majors. Blanks was designated for assignment and then non-tendered by the A's earlier this offseason after appearing in only 26 games in 2014 due to a lingering Achilles issue. But the 6-foot-6, 265-pound first baseman was certainly worth a shot on a low-risk deal for Texas. He's had a couple nice stretches of production when healthy. Rotoworld.com

Headley hit .262/.371/.398 with six homers, 28 runs scored, and 17 RBI in 58 games this past season for New York after the July 22 trade from San Diego -- good fantasy production with the hope of even better in 2015.
