Mets sent INF Josh Satin outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Satin was decent for the Mets as a part-time player in 2013, but he managed just three hits in 35 at-bats for the big club this season.

  • Kyle Blanks removed from 60-day DL
Athletics activated 1B/OF Kyle Blanks from the 60-day disabled list.

Advice: The injury-prone 28-year-old was limited to 26 games this season due to tendinitis in his left Achilles, an issue that also bothered him in 2013. He hit .309/.409/.436 when healthy, but Blanks still might be non-tendered this offseason in his final year of arbitration eligibility.

Youkilis collected 1,053 hits, 150 home runs, and 618 RBI over the course of his 10 major league seasons. He spent 2014 playing for the Rakuten Golden Eagles in Japan.

  • Reds decline option on Hannahan
Reds declined INF Jack Hannahan's $4 million club option for 2015.

Advice: An expected move, Hannahan will receive a $2 million buyout and hit free agency. The veteran infielder missed most of 2014 after offseason shoulder surgery and ended up batting .188/.220/.250 over 50 plate appearances.

  • Smoak expects Jays to decline option
Justin Smoak said Wednesday that he expects the Blue Jays to decline his $3.65 million option for 2015 and negotiate a new deal.

Advice: It's not a big surprise. Smoak was just claimed off waivers from the Mariners on Tuesday. While the Blue Jays can buy out his 2015 option for $150,000, he's still under team control for one more season through the arbitration process.

  • Blue Jays claim Smoak off waivers from M's
Blue Jays claimed 1B Justin Smoak off waivers from the Mariners.

Advice: The writing was on the wall in Seattle after Smoak batted just .202/.275/.339 across 80 games this season. The 27-year-old has a $3.65 million option (with a $150,000 buyout) on his contract for next season, but he's still arbitration-eligible for one more year even if the Blue Jays decline it. The addition of Smoak increases the likelihood that the Blue Jays will deal Adam Lind (or decline his option) in the coming days.

  • Travis Ishikawa back in LF for Game 5
Travis Ishikawa is back in left field and hitting seventh for the Giants in Sunday's Game 5 of the World Series.

Advice: Ishikawa was benched in favor of Juan Perez in Game 4 with the Royals sending lefty Jason Vargas to the mound, but he's back in there Sunday with righty James Shields getting the start. The Giants are using the same lineup that they used for the first five games of the series.

  • Jesus Guzman signs with Hiroshima Carp's Brian McTaggart reports that Jesus Guzman has signed with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of Japan's Central League.

Advice: Guzman elected free agency earlier this month after being removed from the Astros' 40-man roster. It's not clear how much the 30-year-old will be paid by Hiroshima, but he'll get the opportunity to play regularly in Japan, something he wasn't given in the states.

  • Konerko and Rollins share Clemente Award
Paul Konerko and Jimmy Rollins were announced as co-winners of the 2014 Roberto Clemente Award on Friday.

Advice: The annual award, in existence since 1971, recognizes the MLB player who "best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement and the individual's contribution to his team" and is voted on by fans and members of the baseball media. This marks the first time that the award has been shared.

  • Giants sticking with same lineup in Game 3
Travis Ishikawa is in left field and batting seventh for Friday's World Series Game 3.

Advice: Giants manager Bruce Bochy is sticking with the same lineup, which means Ishikawa is still in left and Michael Morse is back on the bench after serving as the DH in Kansas City. They'll square off against the Royals' Jeremy Guthrie.

  • Colabello to undergo tests on right thumb
Chris Colabello is scheduled to undergo X-rays and an MRI on his right thumb this week.

Advice: Colabello has been bothered by discomfort in the thumb since getting jammed by a Grant Balfour pitch on April 23 in Tampa Bay. That set off an 8-for-73 slump, and he finished the 2014 season with a rough .229/.282/.380 slash line. It's not clear how Colabello fits into the Twins' plans for 2015. There's talk that he might be shopped to a Korean team.
