    • Albert Suárez limits Athletics to two runs in win
Albert Suárez limited the Athletics to two runs in six innings to get a win Friday.

Advice: He struck out six while allowing four hits. Two of those four hits were solo homers, but outside of the roundtrippers it was a very strong start for the 34-year-old in what has been one of the most surprising stories of 2024. Suarez now has an ERA of 2.48, and he doesn’t appear to be giving up a spot in this Baltimore rotation. His last start before the break is scheduled Thursday against the Cubs. • Captures fifth win
Suarez (5-2) earned the win Friday against Oakland, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The 34-year-old required only 86 pitches to collect his second consecutive quality start. He held the Athletics in check, as the only blemishes on his outing came via two solo shots yielded to Miguel Andujar and Shea Langeliers. Suarez now sports a 2.48 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 51:23 K:BB across 65.1 innings this season. He is currently slated to make his next start against the Cubs at home. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago

    • Monster performance in win
Reynolds went 4-for-5 with two home runs, six RBI and three runs scored in a 14-2 win over the Mets on Friday.

Advice: Reynolds gave the Pirates the lead on a two-run home run in the fifth inning then broke things open with a grand slam in the seventh. He hit .330 with six homers in June and has carried his power stroke into July with three long balls and eight RBI through four games. On the year, the outfielder is hitting .280 with 16 home runs, 54 RBI, 39 runs scored and five steals over 390 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 6:56 pm

    • Bryan Reynolds homers from both sides of plate
Bryan Reynolds went 4-for-5 with two home runs, six RBI, and two runs scored on Friday against the Mets.

Advice: Reynolds was all over the Mets in this one. His two-run homer in the fifth inning pulled the Pirates ahead and his seventh inning grand slam broke this game open. It was the second time in his career he’s homered from both sides of the plate in the same game and he pulled his OPS up to .831 with 16 homers and 54 RBI. He is a perpetually underrated stud. • Idle vs. southpaw
O'Hearn is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Athletics.

Advice: O'Hearn will retreat to the bench Friday with Oakland sending southpaw Hogan Harris to the mound. O'Hearn is coming off an 0-for-4 effort with two strikeouts in Thursday's 7-3 loss to the Mariners, but since June 1 he is slashing .326/.381/.516 with four home runs and 19 RBI over 95 at-bats. Adley Rutschman will serve as the designated hitter Friday and bat second. Rotowire.com Today, 4:16 pm

    • Idle Friday
Canha is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds.

Advice: Canha has three hits in his last 39 at-bats and will be absent from the starting nine for the second time in three games. Gio Urshela will play first base while Matt Vierling fills the hot corner. Rotowire.com Today, 2:17 pm

    • Mark Canha not in Tigers lineup on Friday night
Mark Canha is not in the Tigers’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Reds in Cincinnati.

Advice: It’s the second time in the last three games that Canha has been excluded from the lineup, so perhaps he’s battling something minor. Gio Urshela will cover first base in his absence on Friday night and will bat seventh against Carson Spiers and the Reds. Rotoworld Today, 2:12 pm

    • Out of lineup versus lefty
Marsh is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Atlanta.

Advice: Marsh will begin this game on the bench as Atlanta sends left-hander Max Fried to the hill. The Phillies will go with right-handed batters both in left field (Cristian Pache) and center field (Johan Rojas). Rotowire.com Today, 1:09 pm

    • Throws bullpen session
Assad (forearm) will throw a bullpen session Friday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Assad is just a little over a week removed from landing on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm extensor strain, so it's a good sign that he's already been cleared to throw off the bump. The Cubs have a doubleheader July 13, and Assad being ready by that date could be in the cards if all goes well. Rotowire.com Today, 8:20 am
