    • Nolan Jones collects two hits in Rockies’ win
      Nolan Jones went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a walk versus the Brewers on Monday.

      Advice: The second hit also would have been at least a double, but it hit first base umpire Brian O’Nora on its way down the first base line, resulting in a single. Jones has had issues with strikeouts since coming off the IL last month, but he’s hitting the ball harder than he did in April and drawing a bunch of walks (12 in 15 games).     • MacKenzie Gore denied win after strong showing
      MacKenzie Gore allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings and struck out eight Monday against the Mets.

      Advice: Gore was at 104 pitches, so it’s kind or understandable that he was pulled in the sixth. Still, he seemed to be very much in control at that point. He’d given up just a soft single before rebounding to retire the next two batters in the sixth. The Nationals pulled him with a 2-0 lead in favor of Derek Law, and the Mets, aided by a CJ Abrams error, went on to score three runs in the frame. That Gore didn’t get a win will probably save the Nationals about $100,000 in arbitration this winter, so they have that going for them. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:32 pm
       
    • Fans eight in no-decision
      Gore did not factor into the decision in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Mets, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: The Washington southpaw created an incredible 21 whiffs to collect his eight punchouts. This was a bounce back performance for Gore as he struggled in five June starts with a 5.13 ERA across 26.1 innings. The 25-year-old's season ERA now stands at 3.47 with 107:29 K:BB over 90.2 innings. He is tentatively scheduled to make his next outing against the Cardinals at home this weekend.     • Report: White Sox intend to trade Garrett Crochet
      USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that “the White Sox intend to trade [Garrett Crochet] by the July 30 trade deadline.”

      Advice: According to Nightengale, the White Sox “quietly engaged in brief contract extension talks” with Crochet,” but there is “no optimism towards reaching an agreement,” so the team is now intent on moving him. As of now, the White Sox have allegedly had 15 teams call to express interest in Crochet, who is making just $800,000 and is under team control through 2026. Some potential concerns surrounding the left-hander are just how much he’ll pitch over the summer after having already thrown 21 more innings than his entire career total heading into this season. There are some additional concerns about whether “a team acquiring Crochet may have to offer a contract extension for him to lift those innings restrictions in the second half because of the potential of an injury risk.” We should get more clarity on Crochet’s market over the next couple of weeks, but he seems like a strong bet to be dealt.       Rodriguez went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in a loss to the Twins on Sunday.

      Advice: Rodriguez's hit was only his second in the last 31 plate appearances, a seven-game span where the talented outfielder has generated an anemic .069 average and .198 OPS. The multi-game skid has temporarily erased a lot of the progress Rodriguez had made after a slow start to the season, as his slash line has dropped to a middling .247/.297/.327. However, there are underlying metrics that suggest Rodriguez is running into some tough luck as well -- he owns an expected batting average and slugging percentage of .272 and .434, respectively, and he's also boasting a career-best 21.7 percent line-drive rate.       Walker went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Athletics.

      Advice: Walker ignited the scoring in the fourth with an RBI base knock and later extended Arizona's lead with another RBI single in the seventh. It was his seventh game in June with multiple hits and his fifth game of the year with a trio of base knocks. Walker has been a steady source of run production for the Diamondbacks this season, slashing .256/.330/.472 with 17 homers, 53 RBI, 49 runs and a 33:88 BB:K in 358 plate appearances.     • Allows four runs in seven frames
      Severino did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk over seven innings against the Astros. He struck out three.

      Advice: Severino was highly efficient if not incredibly effective, needing just 79 pitches to complete seven innings despite allowing four runs and nine baserunners while throwing a first-pitch strike to just 13 of 28 batters. He also struck out only three after fanning a season-high 10 batters in his previous outing. It's the fifth consecutive start in which he's gone at least six innings, though it's the second time within those starts that he allowed at least four earned runs.       Paredes went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, a double and an additional run scored Sunday against the Nationals.

      Advice: Paredes entered the day with just two hits over his last 23 at-bats but broke out of it in a big way with his first three-hit game since May 21. He did all his damage off Nationals starter Patrick Corbin, going 3-for-3 against the lefty.     • Luis Severino lasts seven innings in no-decision
      Luis Severino allowed four runs in seven innings against the Astros on Sunday. He struck out three and walked one.

      Advice: Severino pitched better than his line would indicate. The Astros dinked and dunked most of their hits as Severino pounded the zone with sinkers. He threw that pitch 63% of the time along with 14% four-seam fastballs along with 5% cutters; that made 82% of his total pitches fastball variations. This strategy has helped fuel Severino’s bounce-back season with a 3.42 ERA, yet only 74 strikeouts in 97 1/3 innings. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:35 pm
