    • Just misses quality start
Kikuchi allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 5.2 innings in a no-decision against Houston on Wednesday.

Advice: Kikuchi gave up just one run through five frames before serving up a solo shot to Yordan Alvarez in the sixth. The southpaw got two more outs in the inning but was pulled one out shy of a quality start following a Jeremy Pena double. Despite that disappointment, this was a positive outing for Kikuchi after he had given up 13 runs across 11 frames over his final three starts of June. The hurler has fallen off after a strong start to the campaign -- across his past eight appearances, he has just one quality start while registering a 6.50 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 37:10 K:BB across 36 innings. • Continues to roll with 19th save
Diaz earned a save against the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing one walk in a scoreless inning.

Advice: Diaz entered in the ninth frame to protect a one-run lead and was successful despite issuing a leadoff walk. The Cincinnati closer has tossed seven straight scoreless outings, allowing just one hit during that span while recording five saves. Diaz has rebounded well from his early-season struggles, as he's been successful in each of his past 13 save opportunities and has registered a 1.53 ERA across 17.2 frames over that stretch. • Yusei Kikuchi chased in sixth inning
Yusei Kikuchi allowed two earned runs in 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday against the Astros. He struck out five and walked two in a no-decision.

Advice: Kikuchi was cruising right along until the sixth inning when Yordan Alvarez smacked a lead-off homer and Jeremy Peña’s two-out double forced him from the game. Those who play in quality start leagues will surely be frustrated, but Kikuchi still had a solid start. His fastball had great life and averaged over 96 MPH for the fourth straight start as he mixed his curveball, changeup, and slider off it nicely. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:12 pm
    • Alexis Díaz quiets Yankees to notch 19th save
Alexis Díaz tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Yankees to record his 19th save of the season.

Advice: Díaz was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the final frame at Yankee Stadium and immediately got into trouble by issuing a leadoff walk to light-hitting backstop Austin Wells. Fortunately, he managed to wriggle out of the jam by coaxing a double-play ball from ensuing batter Anthony Volpe before getting Juan Soto to fly out to extinguish the threat. He’s converted 19 of 21 save opportunities this season for Cincinnati. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:08 pm
    • Miles Mikolas rebounds Wednesday with quality start
Miles Mikolas struck out four and allowed two runs over six innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Pirates.

Advice: Mikolas was long gone before this one was decided in extra innings, but he still managed to get through six frames without any major implosions, unlike his last time out when he was torched for 10 runs (nine earned) over 4 1/3 innings against the Reds. The 35-year-old veteran righty will aim to keep the momentum going on Monday when he faces off against the Nationals in a road matchup. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:47 pm
    • Perfect for 18th save
Diaz picked up the save Tuesday against the Yankees, striking out one across a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Diaz needed only nine pitches to retire Trent Grisham, Austin Wells and Anthony Volpe in order Tuesday. Diaz has fired five consecutive scoreless innings and is up to 18 saves on the season, which is tied for eighth most in baseball. Despite the strong save total, Diaz owns a 4.60 ERA across 31.1 innings. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:50 pm
    • Falters versus Dodgers
Sewald (0-1) took the loss and a blown save Tuesday versus the Dodgers, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two in two-thirds of an inning.

Advice: Sewald's 15.2-inning scoreless streak came to an end, and he also took his first blown save of the year. He labored in the ninth inning and ended up giving up a game-tying double to Freddie Freeman, who then scored on Teoscar Hernandez's walk-off single. Sewald is now 11-for-12 in save chances while sporting a 1.56 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB through 17.1 innings. He is unlikely to lose the closer job as long as he's with Arizona, though he's on a one-year contract for a struggling team and could be flipped before the July 30 trade deadline. • Paul Sewald suffers blown save against Dodgers
Paul Sewald suffered his first blown save of the season on Tuesday night, allowing two runs on three hits over 2/3 innings against the Dodgers.

Advice: The 34-year-old stopper was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning. He started off the inning by striking out Gavin Lux and Shohei Ohtani, but things got interesting as Will Smith smacked a two-out double on the first pitch that he saw, putting the tying run in scoring position. Freddie Freeman then fell behind 0-2 before lining a game-tying RBI double into right field. Teoscar Hernandez followed with a walk-off RBI single that ended it. Even with this setback, Sewald still holds a terrific 1.56 ERA and 0.63 WHIP over 17 1/3 innings on the season while converting 11 of his first 12 save opportunities. • Alexis Díaz earns a save in win over Yankees
Alexis Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn a save in a 5-4 win over the Yankees on Tuesday.

Advice: Díaz has now converted 11 straight save chances and has pitched to a 1.98 ERA in 14 2/3 innings over that stretch. However, some of the early command issues remain as Díaz has a 13.2 percent walk rate over that same span. He may remain volatile given his subpar command and he doesn’t miss as many bats as your typical closer, but he remains locked into the closer’s role on a solid team and will continue to rack up saves.
