      Advice: Díaz was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the final frame at Yankee Stadium and immediately got into trouble by issuing a leadoff walk to light-hitting backstop Austin Wells. Fortunately, he managed to wriggle out of the jam by coaxing a double-play ball from ensuing batter Anthony Volpe before getting Juan Soto to fly out to extinguish the threat.       Diaz picked up the save Tuesday against the Yankees, striking out one across a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Diaz needed only nine pitches to retire Trent Grisham, Austin Wells and Anthony Volpe in order Tuesday. Diaz has fired five consecutive scoreless innings and is up to 18 saves on the season, which is tied for eighth most in baseball.       Sewald (0-1) took the loss and a blown save Tuesday versus the Dodgers, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two in two-thirds of an inning.

      Advice: Sewald's 15.2-inning scoreless streak came to an end, and he also took his first blown save of the year. He labored in the ninth inning and ended up giving up a game-tying double to Freddie Freeman, who then scored on Teoscar Hernandez's walk-off single. Sewald is now 11-for-12 in save chances while sporting a 1.56 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB through 17.1 innings.       Paul Sewald suffered his first blown save of the season on Tuesday night, allowing two runs on three hits over 2/3 innings against the Dodgers.

      Advice: The 34-year-old stopper was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning. He started off the inning by striking out Gavin Lux and Shohei Ohtani, but things got interesting as Will Smith smacked a two-out double on the first pitch that he saw, putting the tying run in scoring position. Freddie Freeman then fell behind 0-2 before lining a game-tying RBI double into right field. Teoscar Hernandez followed with a walk-off RBI single that ended it. Even with this setback, Sewald still holds a terrific 1.56 ERA and 0.63 WHIP over 17 1/3 innings on the season while converting 11 of his first 12 save opportunities.     • Alexis Díaz earns a save in win over Yankees
      Alexis Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn a save in a 5-4 win over the Yankees on Tuesday.

      Advice: Díaz has now converted 11 straight save chances and has pitched to a 1.98 ERA in 14 2/3 innings over that stretch. However, some of the early command issues remain as Díaz has a 13.2 percent walk rate over that same span. He may remain volatile given his subpar command and he doesn’t miss as many bats as your typical closer, but he remains locked into the closer’s role on a solid team and will continue to rack up saves.     • Report: White Sox intend to trade Garrett Crochet
      USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that “the White Sox intend to trade [Garrett Crochet] by the July 30 trade deadline.”

      Advice: According to Nightengale, the White Sox “quietly engaged in brief contract extension talks” with Crochet,” but there is “no optimism towards reaching an agreement,” so the team is now intent on moving him. As of now, the White Sox have allegedly had 15 teams call to express interest in Crochet, who is making just $800,000 and is under team control through 2026. Some potential concerns surrounding the left-hander are just how much he’ll pitch over the summer after having already thrown 21 more innings than his entire career total heading into this season. There are some additional concerns about whether “a team acquiring Crochet may have to offer a contract extension for him to lift those innings restrictions in the second half because of the potential of an injury risk.” We should get more clarity on Crochet’s market over the next couple of weeks, but he seems like a strong bet to be dealt.       Paul Sewald struck out two in a perfect ninth inning on Sunday against the Athletics.

      Advice: It was a non-save situation, with Arizona leading by four runs entering the final frame, but Sewald remained locked-in nonetheless, needing just 13 pitches (11 strikes) to end the game. The 34-year-old righty has reeled off 17 consecutive scoreless appearances since giving up one run back on May 7 in his season debut. He’s converted all 11 of his save chances this season and boasts a microscopic 0.54 ERA, 0.48 WHIP and 15/3 K/BB ratio across 16 2/3 innings (18 appearances).       Crochet came away with a no-decision in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies in 14 innings, striking out 11 over seven frames while allowing two earned runs on five hits and zero walks.

      Advice: After Crochet had thrown 85 and 91 pitches in his prior two starts, White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Tuesday that the lefty's workload was "going to start dwindling" moving forward while the White Sox look to prioritize his long-term health. Even though he was mowing down the Colorado lineup for most of the afternoon, Crochet was still pulled after tossing 88 pitches and covering seven innings. If Crochet's pitch count continues to hover around the 85-to-90 range in his future starts, it could hurt his chances of coming away with wins, though he's notched only six wins through his first 18 starts while he's been supported by a weak White Sox lineup. Even so, Crochet remains a must-start fantasy option as long as he's active, as he's thus far provided elite ratios whenever he's taken the hill. The southpaw now owns a 3.02 ERA, a 0.93 WHIP and a league-leading 141 strikeouts over 101.1 innings this season. He's tentatively scheduled for a road start in Miami next weekend.
