    • Kyle Finnegan escapes with 22nd save
Kyle Finnegan recorded his 22nd save in a 2-1 win over the Rockies on Sunday.

Advice: It was not without drama, which is par for the course with Finnegan’s saves. He allowed back-to-back singles to start the inning, but then got Nolan Jones to strike out, Hunter Goodman to fly out, and caught Michael Toglia looking to end the game. Finnegan has a 2.23 ERA on the season but could lose a significant amount of fantasy value if he gets traded at the deadline. Depending on where he ends up, he could find himself in a late-inning set-up role. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:57 pm
    • Kenley Jansen earns second save in two days
Kenley Jansen earned his second save in two days with a scoreless ninth Sunday against the Reds.

Advice: It’s Jansen’s 15th save of the year and No. 435 in his career. Jansen and Chris Martin both pitched for the second straight day today, so unless the Red Sox are willing to go to one of them three days in a row, Justin Slaten might get the ninth in a save situation Monday. • Kyle Finnegan melts down in blown save vs. Rockies
Kyle Finnegan was charged with two runs and failed to record an out on Saturday in an ugly blown save against the Rockies.

Advice: Finnegan was saddled with a loss in the ninth inning after failing to hold a one-run lead at Coors Field. It was his first blown save since May 18. He gave up four consecutive hits to open the frame, including a game-tying single to Brenton Doyle, before handing out a bases-loaded free pass to Ryan McMahon to push across the game-winning run. It was a pretty legendary meltdown, but fantasy managers should overlook it considering the environment and how solid Finnegan has been overall this year. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:16 am
    • Secures 14th save
Jansen earned a a save against the Reds on Saturday, allowing one hit in a scoreless inning.

Advice: Jansen worked around a two-out single to close out his 10th straight successful save. The veteran closer has posted a 22:3 K:BB over 18.2 innings during that span while posting a 2.41 ERA. Jansen continues to get the job done in his 15th MLB season -- he's converted 14 of 15 save opportunities while registering a 2.49 ERA and 1.07 WHIP over 25.1 frames. • Jansen picks up 14th save against Reds Saturday
Kenley Jansen tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: Jansen’s save was his 14th of the season. It was his fifth save in the month of June. After another scoreless inning, Jansen’s ERA is down to 2.49 on the season. Rotoworld Saturday, 4:27 pm

    • Shut down from throwing
Romano experienced right elbow soreness after long tossing from 120 feet Friday and has been shut down from throwing, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Advice: Romano was slated to throw off the mound over the weekend, but he will now take a break while the team determines the next steps. Prior to landing on the injured list June 1, the 31-year-old closer registered eight saves across 15 outings with a 6.59 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 13.2 innings. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:40 am

    • Jordan Romano shut down due to elbow soreness
Jordan Romano has been shut down from throwing due to renewed right elbow soreness.

Advice: Not good. Romano has been out since late May recovering from a right elbow issue and the fact that he’s still experiencing soreness isn’t good. The issue cropped up during a long-tossing session on Friday and the Blue Jays have shut him down for the moment to determine his next steps. It’ll be Chad Green continuing to close for Toronto for at least a couple additional weeks with both Romano and Yimi García (elbow) sidelined due to injury. Rotoworld Saturday, 11:33 am

    • Earns first save
Abreu allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned a save over Baltimore on Friday.

Advice: Abreu worked around a two-out single to close out the chaotic 14-11 victory. It was his first save of the year and he extended his scoreless streak to 8.2 innings. After allowing six runs in 5.2 innings to begin his season, Abreu has yielded just five runs in his last 32 appearances, lowering his season ERA to 2.58. Josh Hader seemingly received a routine day off after earning back-to-back saves against the White Sox on Wednesday and Thursday. Rotowire.com Saturday, 5:10 am

    • Bryan Abreu picks up first save of 2024
Bryan Abreu protected a three-run lead against the Astros for his first save Friday.

Advice: Josh Hader, Ryan Pressly and Abreu all worked the previous two days, but the youngest of the trio was the only one available tonight, apparently. Abreu got the job done and finally picked up his first save in the process. He leads the AL with 38 appearances this season, and his ERA is down to 2.58 after a rough start. Still. because of the lack of saves, he’ll make less than a quarter of what he’s worth in arbitration again next year. Rotoworld Saturday, 12:08 am
