      Advice: Even in pitcher-friendly Petco Park, Pfaadt was tagged for a season-high three home runs. He gave up back-to-back solo shots to Fernando Tatis and Jurickson Profar in the first inning and also yielded a two-run blast to Ha-Seong Kim in the sixth. This was the third start in a row where Pfaadt has given up four or more runs. He's now at a 4.60 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 76:15 K:BB through 78.1 innings across 13 starts.       Merrill went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 10-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: This was Merrill's first steal since May 14. Over the 20 contests between thefts, he hit a meager .224 (15-for-67) with no walks and just one extra-base hit. The 21-year-old is still at a respectable .268/.303/.344 slash line with three home runs, 22 RBI, 24 runs scored and eight steals over 63 contests this year. Merrill has been benched against some left-handed pitchers recently, but he should have no trouble maintaining a majority of the playing time in center field over Jose Azocar.       Lynn did not factor into the decision in Friday's 8-5 win over the Rockies, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Lynn entered this start on a roll, tossing a 0.56 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB over 16 innings in his last three starts, but couldn't control a shaky Colorado lineup. This marks the fifth time the 37-year-old veteran has allowed four earned runs in an outing this year. His ERA now stands at 3.58 with a 1.38 WHIP in 65.1 innings.       Lance Lynn was charged for four runs in four innings in a no-decision Friday against the Rockies.

      Advice: All four runs came in the fourth inning, and all on the same play. With the bases loaded, Lynn allowed a three-run triple to Michael Toglia, and Toglia picked up a Little League grand slam as he scored on an error. Lynn struck out six and walked two in a mediocre — at best — effort Friday night. His next start comes Thursday against the Pirates, assuming the rotation order stays the same.       Craig Kimbrel tossed a clean ninth inning and picked up the save against the Rays on Friday.

      Advice: The save was Kimbrel’s 14th of the season and came on the heels of him taking the loss in his last appearance against the Blue Jays on Wednesday. That wasn’t a save opportunity, though.       Justin Steele dropped to 0-3 after allowing three runs in seven innings Friday against the Reds.

      Advice: Two of the runs scored in the fourth after Steele had Elly De La Cruz picked off first base, only for Cruz to reach second because of errant throw from Michael Busch.       Snell (groin) began throwing off flat ground Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

      Advice: Assuming Snell has no issues with flat-ground throwing, the plan is for him to begin mound work at some point next week. It's still unclear if the 31-year-old southpaw will be able to return from the IL when eligible June 18, but some clarity may come once he's thrown a few bullpen sessions.       Kershaw (shoulder) hit 90 mph during his two-inning simulated game Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

      Advice: Friday's session was the second simulated game for Kershaw. The velocity he showed is a good sign that the veteran southpaw is progressing well through his offseason shoulder surgery.       Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) touched 90 mph on the gun during a two-inning simulated game in California on Friday.
