• Cardinals option Adam Kloffenstein Friday
Cardinals optioned RHP Adam Kloffenstein to Triple-A Memphis.

Advice: Kloffenstein was the corresponding move for the activation of Giovanny Gallegos from the injured list. The 23-year-old right-hander will return to the minors after tossing a scoreless inning in his first major league appearance on Thursday. Rotoworld Today, 10:18 am
  • Goes back to minors
The Cardinals optioned Kloffenstein to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

Advice: Kloffenstein turned in a 1-2-3 inning in his major-league debut Thursday versus the Giants to help out a depleted Cardinals bullpen but will quickly head back to Memphis. The big righty will re-enter Memphis' starting rotation, where he's collected a 3.97 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through 77 innings across 14 starts. Rotowire.com Today, 10:07 am
  • Allows three runs in no-decision
Mazur did not factor into the decision in a win over the Brewers on Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Mazur allowed one run in the first inning after surrendering a leadoff double to Brice Turang to open the contest, but the right-hander was able to keep the Brewers' offense at bay over the next three frames as San Diego took a 4-1 lead. The 23-year-old's luck would run out in the fifth, however, when Willy Adames chased him from the game with a two-run shot. Mazur has now failed to make it through five innings in each of his last three starts, allowing 13 runs over that stretch while posting a putrid 9:12 K:BB. He's likely to be pushed out of the rotation as soon as Yu Darvish (groin) returns. Rotowire.com Today, 7:05 am

  • Adam Mazur surrenders three runs to Brewers
Adam Mazur was lifted after allowing three runs in 4 2/3 innings Thursday against the Brewers.

Advice: Mazur struck out three and walked three. The Padres are about to get Yu Darvish back, so Mazur seems likely to be sent down, perhaps prior to Friday’s game. He still might be interesting later this year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:17 pm

  • Landon Knack starting Friday against Angels
Landon Knack will start on Friday against the Angels.

Advice: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed to reporters following Thursday’s win over the Rockies that Knack will get the ball to kick off the Freeway Series against the Angels. The 26-year-old righty draws the starting assignment in place of an injured Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He’s posted a respectable 2.61 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 16/6 K/BB ratio across 20 2/3 innings (four starts) this season in the majors. He figures to get some extended run with both Yamamoto and Walker Buehler on the shelf for an extended period. There’s definitely some streaming appeal here for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:28 pm

  • Starting Friday
Knack will be recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start against the Angels on Friday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Knack has been extremely effective in the majors this season, posting a 2.61 ERA and 0.97 WHIP across 20.2 innings through his first four starts. He'll now return to Los Angeles to fill the opening in the Dodgers' rotation left by Yoshinobu Yamamoto's (shoulder) trip to the injured list, though there's a good chance Knack's time in the majors is limited to only Friday's outing. • Cardinals call up Adam Kloffenstein on Thursday
Cardinals recalled RHP Adam Kloffenstein from Triple-A Memphis.

Advice: Kloffenstein provides St. Louis with some extra long relief depth behind Thursday’s starter Andre Pallante. The 23-year-old righty earns his first promotion to the majors after compiling a respectable 3.97 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 68/29 K/BB ratio over 77 innings (14 starts) this season for Triple-A Memphis. • Officially promoted
The Cardinals recalled Kloffenstein from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Advice: After putting up a 3.97 ERA and 1.13 WHP through 77 innings at Triple-A, Kloffenstein will now come up from the minors to give St. Louis another multi-inning relief option in its bullpen. He'll take the place of Chris Roycroft, who was optioned to Memphis in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:12 am
  • Good to go for Saturday's start
The Marlins list Luzardo (back) as their probable pitcher for Saturday's game against the Mariners, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Luzardo pitched with some back stiffness in his last outing in Sunday's loss to the Nationals, getting pulled after five innings and 77 pitches while displaying decreased velocity. He's evidently bounced back fine, though, and appears good to go this weekend for a matchup against Seattle at home. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:57 am
