• On verge of rehab assignment
Polanco (hamstring) is slated to run the bases before Thursday's game against the White Sox and then head out on a rehab assignment, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Advice: Polanco has been progressively ramping up his level of activity in recent days, apparently without any setbacks. MLB.com reports that general manager Justin Hollander indicated team trainers would jointly assess Polanco's condition with the veteran infielder following Thursday's activity, at which point the length of the rehab assignment would likely be determined. • Swipes first bag
Walls went 0-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored Wednesday against the Cubs.

Advice: Walls has started five of six games since being activated from the injured list, though he's collected just two hits in 14 at-bats. Positively, he stole his first base of the season Wednesday, suggesting he'll still be willing to run even after returning from a serious hip injury. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:02 am

  • Homers twice in win
Candelario went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in a 4-2 win over the Guardians on Wednesday.

Advice: Candelario hit a solo home run off Tanner Bibee in the first inning and followed it up with a three-run homer off Bibee to give the Reds a 4-2 lead in the sixth. He then added a single in the eighth. Candelario has been mashing in June, hitting .340 with five homers and 11 RBI through 11 contests. While Candelario's .243 season average still isn't great, he now has 11 home runs and 31 RBI in 248 plate appearances and is hitting in the heart of a hot Reds lineup. • Jeimer Candelario powers Reds past Guardians
Jeimer Candelario blasted a pair of homers and drove in four runs on Wednesday night, accounting for all of the Reds’ offense in a 4-2 victory over the Guardians.

Advice: The 30-year-old infielder opened the scoring in the contest with a 404-foot (104.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Tanner Bibee. He then put the Reds ahead to stay with a 343-foot (96.9 mph EV) three-run blast that chased Bibee from the game in the sixth inning. Candelario also singled in the ballgame, finishing the night 3-for-4. On the season, he’s now slashing .243/.306/.476 with 11 homers and 31 RBI. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:08 pm

  • Jorge Polanco nearing rehab assignment
Jorge Polanco (hamstring) is nearing a minor league rehab assignment.

Advice: The 30-year-old infielder is in the midst of his second stint on the injured list due to a balky right hamstring. He has bene shelved since May 26 this time around, so he’s going to need at least a few games at Triple-A Tacoma before he’s ready to rejoin the Mariners. Ryan Bliss will continue to function as the team’s primary second baseman in the meantime. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:21 pm

  • Playing time to drop
Suarez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, and Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Blaze Alexander will receive more playing time at third base moving forward, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Wednesday's absence is just Suarez's fourth from the lineup this season, but it appears he'll sit more often going forward due to his .197/.263/.312 slash line through 66 games. Lovullo didn't specify how the playing time will be split, so it's possible Suarez still sees the majority of the action at the hot corner. Regardless, the 32-year-old should no longer be considered the Diamondbacks' everyday third baseman, at least for the time being. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:56 pm

  • Receiving rest day
Sosa is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Sosa will get a breather after he went 4-for-20 with three RBI and two runs while starting each of the Phillies' last six games at shortstop. Bryson Stott will move over from the keystone to cover shortstop in Sosa's stead, opening up second base for Whit Merrifield. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:15 pm

  • Jeimer Candelario drives in a run in loss
Jeimer Candelario went 1-for-4 with an RBI in a loss to the Guardians on Tuesday.

Advice: Candelario got the scoring started with a run-scoring double off of Triston McKenzie in the first inning for his 27th RBI of the season. The 30-year-old has been picking it up of late, slashing .277/.338/.585 over his last 16 games with five home runs, nine runs, nine RBI, and two steals. Given his big contract in the offseason, he figures to remain in the Reds lineup every day even when Noelvi Marte comes back, shifting back to being the primary first baseman. Now could be the time to scoop up the Candy Man if he’s still on waivers in your league. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:36 pm

  • On bench against lefty
Smith is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Smith has a .912 OPS through eight games in June but will take a seat Tuesday with southpaw James Paxton on the mound for Los Angeles. Davis Wendzel will receive a start at the hot corner and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 4:04 pm
