Gordon Beckham (hand) hopes to begin a rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Charlotte.
Advice: Beckham had surgery last month to remove the hamate bone from his left hand, but he has increased baseball activities in recent days and is ready to test himself in game action. He figures to rejoin the White Sox by the end of the month.

Mark Teixeira (wrist) is aiming to return from the disabled list on May 30 or 31.
Advice: "It's great -- I couldn't be happier with my rehab," Teixeira said. "I'm looking at the end of May, sometime around the 30th or 31st maybe, to get back out there playing with the Yankees. I'm feeling great." Teixeira has been taking batting practice in the cages but still needs to take live BP on the field. "I would say the next step would be some live BP; we're not there yet," manager Joe Girardi said. "Then maybe some sim games, hopefully, then some rehab games. That's the progression, but we're still in the BP phase."

Shin-Soo Choo went 4-for-5 with two home runs in the Reds' 4-0 win over the Marlins on Wednesday.
Advice: Choo also singled twice and scored three runs total. The leadoff hitter is now batting .322 with 33 runs scored. He's been a fantasy revelation this year, and he's showing no signs of stopping.

Rays recalled LHP Jeff Beliveau from Triple-A Durham.
Advice: It's believed Beliveau will be up solely for Sunday, as it's already been confirmed that Jake Odorizzi will be promoted to start in place of David Price on Monday. Beliveau, a lefty, has an underwhelming 4.35 ERA in 10 appearances this season with Durham.

Brett Myers (elbow) fared well in his first minor league rehab start with Double-A Akron on Friday, allowing just one hit and a walk over three scoreless innings of work.
Advice: Myers threw 33 pitches in the game, 18 for strikes. He's dealing with a mild UCL tear in his elbow, but has chosen to try to pitch through the injury rather than undergoing surgery. It's a good first step, but he'll need several rehab outings before rejoining the Indians' rotation.

Josh Lindblom will be called up to start Monday against the Athletics.
Advice: He'll take Alexi Ogando's place in the starting rotation. Lindblom, who was acquired from the Phillies in the Michael Young deal, owns a solid 2.08 ERA and 33/11 K/BB ratio in 43 1/3 innings over seven starts and one relief appearance this season with Triple-A Round Rock. He'll likely be a reliever in the long-term, but he might be worth a look in AL-only leagues.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times hears that prospect right-hander Jake Odorizzi is the most likely option to fill in for David Price (triceps) in the starting rotation.
Advice: Alex Torres, Alex Colome, and Chris Archer are also under consideration for the assignment, but Odorizzi has pitched really well so far in Triple-A and lines up perfectly for Monday against the Blue Jays. The 23-year-old is worth grabbing in AL-only leagues.

Athletics designated RHP Chris Resop for assignment.
Advice: Hideki Okajima has been called up from Triple-A Sacramento to replace him on the active roster. Resop has an ugly 6.00 ERA and 13/10 K/BB ratio over 18 innings this season. He's making $1.35 million, so it's likely he'll pass through waivers.

Tigers recalled RHP Evan Reed from Triple-A Toledo.
Advice: Reed has posted a 3.00 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 28/7 K/BB ratio in 21 innings this season at the Triple-A level. He should do well in a middle relief role for Detroit.

Michael Cuddyer (neck) isn't sure he'll be ready for activation from the disabled list on May 24 when first eligible.
Advice: "I was still pretty locked up yesterday after the epidural, but I'm feeling a little better today," Cuddyer said Thursday. The outfielder is still a few days away from resuming baseball activities. A clearer picture of his timetable should be known at that time.

Stephen Drew (back) is not in Saturday's lineup.
Advice: Drew played through a back issue on Friday and the Red Sox don't want to risk it again. The injury is not considered serious, though, and Drew will try to return on Sunday.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said during an appearance on WEEI that Andrew Bailey (biceps) will come off the disabled list by Monday at the latest.
Advice: That's assuming he makes it through a simulated game Thursday and a rehab appearance on Saturday. Bailey is expected to take the closer role back from Junichi Tazawa upon his return.

Colby Lewis (elbow, triceps) is scheduled to throw a bullpen Friday and resume his minor league rehab assignment Monday with Double-A Frisco.
Advice: Lewis return from elbow surgery hit a snag over the weekend due to discomfort in his triceps muscle, but it was never a major concern. Barring any setbacks, he could join the Rangers' rotation in the early part of June.

Marlins released RHP David Aardsma.
Advice: Per Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, his minor league contract with the Marlins allowed Aardsma to opt out if he wasn't in the majors by May 15. The 31-year-old posted a 2.57 ERA and 12/8 K/BB ratio over 14 innings with Triple-A New Orleans. It shouldn't be long before he finds a new home.

Zack Cozart was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to illness.
Advice: He should be fine in a day or two. Cesar Izturis is taking Cozart's place at shortstop.

Sean Burnett (forearm) is expected to be activated from the disabled list next Tuesday.
Advice: Burnett threw off a mound Thursday for the first time since landing on the DL and had no issues. He'll go out on a short rehab assignment over the weekend.

Edwin Encarnacion went 2-for-4 with a double in Friday's loss to the Yankees.
Advice: Encarnacion now has three multi-hit games in his last four and has pulled his batting average up from .218 to .247 along the way. Fortunately, he has been a consistent source of power even during his struggles. He's currently tied for the AL lead with 11 home runs.
