    • Scratched from lineup Thursday
Merrill was scratched from the lineup for Thursday's game in Colorado due to right groin tightness, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Jose Acocar will shift over to center field, Tyler Wade will move to left and Eguy Rosario will enter the lineup at third base. At this point, Merrill should be considered day-to-day, but the Padres could offer more on his outlook following Thursday's contest. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

    • Athletics place Zack Gelof on 10-day IL
Athletics placed INF Zack Gelof (oblique) on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 24, with a left oblique strain.

Advice: This doesn’t come as a surprise as the 24-year-old second baseman was diagnosed with the strain Wednesday, but it’s a disappointment for fantasy managers that have him rostered. Abraham Toro is likely to take over at second while Gelof is sidelined. Rotoworld Today, 11:08 am

    • Placed on injured list
The Athletics placed Gelof on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a strained left oblique.

Advice: Gelof's injury caused him to be a late scratch from Oakland's lineup ahead of Wednesday's game, and it will now officially cost him at least another week and a half. The 24-year-old second baseman hadn't missed a start prior to Wednesday, though he's failed to make the most of his playing time, slashing just .196/.260/.337 with seven RBI across his first 101 plate appearances. Darell Hernaiz was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 11:07 am

    • Cleared for DH duties Thursday
Seager (shin) will serve as the Rangers' designated hitter and No. 2 batter in Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Seager was removed late in Wednesday's 5-1 win over Seattle after getting hit by a pitch in the seventh inning. According to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, manager Bruce Bochy said after the contest that Seager's left shin "swelled up pretty good," but the 29-year-old evidently feels good enough Thursday to give it a go, albeit in a non-defensive role. Josh Smith will take over Seager's usual duties at shortstop. Rotowire.com Today, 8:45 am

    • Corey Seager in lineup against Seattle on Thurs.
Corey Seager (shin) is in the Rangers’ starting lineup as a designated hitter against the Mariners on Thursday.

Advice: Good news. Seager was hit in the shin by a pitch on Wednesday and was diagnosed with a contusion, but it appears that won’t stop the 29-year-old from getting back on the diamond. The team is taking somewhat of a precaution by placing him as a designated hitter, but for fantasy purposes, managers can breathe easy for the time being. Rotoworld Today, 8:45 am

    • Reinstated from paternity leave
The Phillies reinstated Harper (personal) from the paternity leave list Thursday.

Advice: Harper missed the first three games of the series in Cincinnati after welcoming his third child into the world, but he's back for the series finale in Cincinnati. The two-time MVP will start at first base and bat third against the Reds. Rotowire.com Today, 7:16 am
    • Phillies activate Bryce Harper from paternity list
Phillies activated 1B Bryce Harper from the paternity list.

Advice: After a few days off to celebrate the birth of a child, Harper joins the Phillies in their series finale against the Reds. He’ll look to extend his hitting streak to seven games and get the Phillies back on track after consecutive losses to Cincinnati. Rotoworld Today, 7:15 am
    • Delivers against lefty
Benson went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's 7-4 win over Philadelphia.

Advice: Benson put the Reds on the board with a solo home run in the third inning off righty Spencer Turnbull, but his biggest hit came three innings later. The lefty hitter delivered the go-ahead run with two outs off lefty Matt Strahm. Benson was a platoon player in 2023 but is getting more opportunities against southpaws this season. It's not always pretty -- 4-for-22 off them thus far -- but manager David Bell let him stay in the game at a high-leverage moment. Benson, who snapped a career-worst 0-for-18 skid in Tuesday's win over the Phillies, is 3-for-9 in the series heading into the finale Thursday afternoon. Rotowire.com Today, 4:57 am

    • Lasts just four innings in loss
Miller (3-2) took the loss against Texas on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out five batters over four-plus innings.

Advice: Miller made it through three scoreless frames before the Rangers got to him for a pair of solo homers in the fourth. The right-hander did come back out to the mound for the fifth frame, but he was pulled after issuing a leadoff walk, having thrown 83 pitches to that point. Miller's three-game quality start streak was thus snapped, as was his three-game win streak. He'll try to get back on track the next time he takes the mound, which lines up to be this weekend in Houston. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:25 pm
