    • Swats sixth homer
Paredes went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Tigers.

Advice: He supplied the Rays' only offense by taking Alex Faedo deep in the sixth inning. Paredes is having a strong start to the season, slashing .274/.361/.512 through 23 games with six homers and 16 RBI, but he'll need to keep producing to hang onto his starting job at third base with top prospect Junior Caminero lurking at Triple-A. • Likely to miss at least one month
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said after Tuesday's 14-1 win over the Cardinals that he expects Kelly (shoulder) to miss at least one month after landing on the 15-day injured list, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports. "We're not looking in terms of weeks as what we had hoped for," Lovullo said of Kelly's timetable for a return from a teres major strain in his right shoulder. "So I think the next step up is a month, more than that."

Advice: Kelly had rolled to a 2-0 record, 2.19 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over 24.2 innings through his first four starts of the season before he was scratched ahead of his most recent turn in the rotation this past Sunday against the Giants upon experiencing shoulder discomfort during a throwing session. He was sent in for two MRIs in recent days, and although both confirmed that Kelly had sustained a teres major strain, Lovullo noted that the Diamondbacks don't yet know if the strain if of the Grade 1, 2 or 3 variety. Lovullo added that Kelly will receive "a couple other opinions" on his injury before a firmer timeline and a treatment method is established, but the skipper said that the right-hander won't need surgery even while the "concern [level] is yet to be determined." In any case, Kelly's fantasy managers can probably feel comfortable ruling him out for all of May, and it could be difficult to justify stashing the 35-year-old if his timeline for a return ultimately gets pushed back further. • Adds insurance with homer
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Ramirez's bat is coming around -- he's hit safely in seven of his last eight games, going 8-for-32 (.250) with two homers and nine RBI in that span. For the season, he's slashing .240/.253/.427 with four homers, 19 RBI, 16 runs scored, a stolen base, four doubles and a triple through 22 games. Ramirez remains firmly in the heart of the order and continues to be regularly involved in run production even with his lackluster on-base numbers so far. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:41 pm
    • Paredes homers in loss to Tigers
Isaac Paredes went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Tigers on Tuesday.

Advice: In a rare occurrence, Paredes homered to left-center field instead of down the line in left field. The ball left the bat at 100.8 mph and traveled 384 feet. It was the 25-year-old’s sixth home run on the season to go along with 16 RBI. He’s been strong again to start the season, which he’ll need to continue to be since one of the best prospects in baseball, Junior Caminero, plays his position and is just one level away. Still, Paredes will continue to play if he keeps hitting, and there are no indications that last year’s breakout was a fluke. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:01 pm

    • José Ramírez homers, Guardians roll past Red Sox
José Ramírez walloped a solo homer on Tuesday, powering the Guardians to a 4-1 victory over the Red Sox.

Advice: Ramírez doubled Cleveland’s lead with an eighth-inning solo shot off Red Sox reliever Cam Booser. It was his fourth round-tripper of the season. He’s started to heat up over the last few contests, recording at least one hit in seven of his last eight games since April 14, and also has a pair of big flies during that span. • Heads to 15-day IL
The Diamondbacks placed Kelly on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right shoulder strain.

Advice: Kelly was diagnosed with a teres major strain of his right shoulder following an MRI. He had been scheduled to start this past Sunday's series finale in San Francisco, but he was scratched after experiencing discomfort prior to the game. The Diamondbacks were initially hopeful the 35-year-old would avoid a stint on the IL, but that naturally went by the wayside with Tuesday's development. In a corresponding move, Tommy Henry was recalled from Triple-A Reno and should step into Kelly's spot in the rotation. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:16 pm

    • Merrill Kelly heads to IL with shoulder strain
Diamondbacks placed RHP Merrill Kelly on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder strain.

Advice: Arizona manager Torey Lovullo told reporters Kelly will not require surgery to address a teres major strain in his right shoulder, but the club doesn’t know the severity or next steps for the 35-year-old veteran right-hander until he receives additional medical opinions. There should be some clarity on his return timetable in the coming days, but fantasy managers should expect him to require a lengthy absence, especially since shoulder issues can be extremely complicated matters. • Espada: Framber Valdez could return this weekend
Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Framber Valdez (elbow) could start this weekend in Mexico City.

Advice: Espada added that Valdez will throw a bullpen session this week while the Astros are in Chicago and could return this weekend to start against the Rockies in Mexico City. The 30-year-old southpaw landed on the injured list earlier this month with left elbow inflammation, but has been able to complete several recent bullpen sessions without any issues. It certainly sounds like he could return to bolster Houston’s injury-plagued starting rotation this weekend. Stay tuned. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:49 pm

    • Records third steal
Chapman went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 5-2 win over the Mets.

Advice: Chapman is up to three steals this year, two of which have come over the last three contests. The third baseman has gone 8-for-24 (.333) with four RBI and six extra-base hits over his last seven contests. He's slashing .226/.280/.430 with four home runs, 14 RBI, 13 runs scored and seven doubles through 100 plate appearances, but his recent performances suggest he's trending in the right direction.
