      Jordan Montgomery allowed six earned runs across four innings in a loss to the Mets on Friday. He struck out just four while walking three batters and giving up nine hits.

      Advice: Montgomery’s poor season continued on Friday. The Diamondbacks gifted him a 3-0 lead before he took the mound and still managed to cough it up before the third inning. Once again, his sinker was hit incredibly hard - the Mets had an average exit velocity of 97 MPH off the pitch - and he wound up trashing it as the game went on in favor of more four-seam fastballs and curveballs.       Lee (shoulder) will undergo surgery Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

      Advice: The procedure will address the torn labrum in Lee's left shoulder, which he sustained May 12 against the Reds. Before the injury, Lee was slashing .262/.310/.331 with two home runs and eight RBI over 145 plate appearances. He should be ready to go for the start of the 2025 season.       Advice: Verdugo's fourth-inning solo shot equaled the margin of victory in the pitching-dominated matchup. The long ball was his eighth of the season, putting Verdugo well on pace to surpass the career-best mark of 13 homers that he's reached two separate seasons.
