      Advice: Marte opened the scoring with an RBI single in the second inning, which was ultimately enough offense for Arizona to win. He's been good over the latter half of June, going 16-for-45 (.356) with seven extra-base hits and 12 RBI over his last 12 contests.       Gallen (6-4) allowed a hit and a walk while striking out seven over six shutout innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Saturday.

      Advice: Gallen returned from a hamstring injury that cost him nearly a month and took full advantage of a soft matchup. This was the fourth time this season he's gone six innings in a start without allowing a run. He's also posted five quality starts in his last six outings, the lone exception being the May 30 start that ended with the aforementioned hamstring injury before he could record an out. The right-hander is now at a 2.83 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 67:16 K:BB through 63.2 innings over 12 starts. Gallen threw 77 pitches (50 strikes) Saturday, so he should be good for a full workload his next time out, which is tentatively projected for a road outing at San Diego.       Guerrero went 3-for-5 with a home run and six RBI in Saturday's 9-3 win over the Yankees.

      Advice: Guerrero opened the scoring with a two-run home run off Nestor Cortes in the first inning. He added a three-run double in the eighth and an RBI single in the eighth to finish the day with a whopping six RBI. The first baseman is scorching, homering for the third straight contest and recording his sixth consecutive multi-hit effort.       Paul Skenes struck out nine over six innings of one-run baseball but didn’t factor into the decision Saturday against Atlanta.

      Advice: Skenes gave up a leadoff homer to Jarred Kelenic in the first, and from that point out he was essentially lights out. The right-hander scattered six total hits in the contests with two walks allowed and 61-of-102 pitches going for strikes. To say that Skenes has lived up to the hype thus far is an understatement, and over his last four starts he’s given up a total of three runs with a 32/4 K/BB over 25 1/3 innings.     • Aaron Nola strikes out nine in loss Saturday
      Aaron Nola allowed three runs with nine strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a loss to the Marlins on Saturday.

      Advice: A solo homer by Nick Gordon in the second inning was the only run Nola had allowed going into the seventh. He stayed in just a bit too long as two doubles and a base hit would bring two more runs in to score for the Marlins, costing Nola the chance for the win. Still, he struck out nine batters with no walks in the solid outing. The 31-year-old right-hander will take a 3.43 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and a 99/25 K/BB ratio across 107 2/3 innings into a start against the Braves in Atlanta on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 3:47 pm

      Ketel Marte went 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI against the Athletics on Saturday.

    • Gallen throws six shutout innings in win vs. A’s
      Zac Gallen allowed no runs in six innings and got the win in the Diamondbacks’ 3-0 victory over the Athletics on Saturday.



      Advice: Gallen gave up one hit, walked one and struck out seven. Even though the Athletics offense is nothing to write home about, Gallen was excellent in his first major league start since May 30th. Gallen has finished in the top five of the Cy Young award voting each of the last two years and appeared to have similar form in this start. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Padres on the road next week.

    • X-rays come back negative for Juan Soto (hand)
      Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone told reporters after Saturday’s loss to the Blue Jays that X-rays on the injured right hand of superstar outfielder Juan Soto came back negative for any fractures.

      Advice: The 25-year-old superstar injured himself while sliding headfirst into home plate during Friday’s battle against the Jays. The team has an off-day on Monday, so it seems very likely that he’ll rest again on Sunday before hopefully being able to return to the Bombers’ lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Reds.
